I was told no bread, dried fruit, popcorn (but I heard alot of people still eat it), coconut, soda or tortillas as well as no broccoli stems or asparagus. Are you here in Oklahoma too? Who's your doctor? I would love to have a fellow bandster buddy here at home.

A colleague of my husband's in TN was banded a couple of years ago. She gave him this advice for me: "Nothing tastes as good as Thin feels." Everytime I see something that looks good I say that to myself. Give it a try. It may help you too!!

You know what is weird, that I really don't like bread that much. Oh, don't get me wrong, I'll eat it, but if I had to pick between bread and broccoli, I would eat broccoli - I know - what am I worried about?????

Sandwiches - I love pannini sandwiches. I have been happy to hear most of you say that toasted bread is much easier for most of you.

Your so right though Pam - nothing does taste as good as being thin feels!

I can eat 1/2 to a whole piece if I eat really slow. bread is one of the things that sticks with me the longest, so I try to have 1/2 a piece with dinner. If I don't have it I get hungry faster.

I ate bread, brocolli and asparagus at lunch today. I think when doctors say "no" to certain foods, they are basing that on items that give most people a problem. I say that because asparagus can be stringy, and that could hurt really bad. Same with celery strings or anything that can't be chewed. I really don't have a problem with anything; if it's on the list of things that are hard to get down, I just take baby bites and chew really well.

One thing I can't give up is a soft salted pretzle (just fainted thinking of one.) It's a rare treat considering they don't sell them many places, and there's no way I can eat a whole one, but I nibble on them just fine.

I usually have no problems with popcorn. When I asked my naturopatic Physician why...she says she has no idea, but says a lot of her band patients (she does fills) are like me and have no prob with it. I'm just so glad it's something I can really get to crunching. bread is a problem most of the time for me and I rarely try it. Sometimes I'll eat the crispy part of a biscuit or something like that.

I think food is so much a personal body thing. I have no fill in yet (4 weeks out). I had my first bite of bread today and it felt gross going down. I don't know if it was a problem or if it was me. I'm not much of a bread eater (even the french bread I tried) unless its a sprouted grain type.

I kinda blew everything today after that and had fettucini alfredo for lunch. I was at a lunch and taking small pieces and chewing 25 times just wasn't working. I only ate about 1/2 cup. I'm just so bummed because I haven't been losing and really don't have much in my diet yet - mushies and fishes - or the old standby yogurt. No change in 9 days. I know I'm still in the healing process but...

Anyway, I'm excited to see that most people can have popcorn...and asparagus. I love pureeing asparagus into the 'fake guacamole'. In fact, I will do that tonight and have it on fish or chicken. Okay, my life is looking up.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
