I suffered a major slippage when I took five Colace gel tabs, WARNING, do not take more than one gel time at a time as they can stick together, block the stoma and cause violent vomiting. For one month after the episode, keeping down food and Water became increasingly difficult with reflux being VERY painful. I ended up at the ER and they emptied the band and I had immediate relief. Two weeks later (on a liquid diet), I went in for a floroscopy and the stomach has repositioned itself so now after 6 weeks of not being filled, I was filled to 7 ml (the amount previously filled that was the "sweet spot' so to speak.) but I am not experiencing any restriction at all with that amount that previously provided the perfect amount of restriction. Does anyone have any ideas on why this might be so?

Thank you,

Julie

I was just wondering, if you had slippage, do you not need to have it repositioned? I just assumed that a second surgery would be needed.

No, you do not always have to have surgery to reposition the band, I was very lucky though but from what I understand, I am not home free and could still have problems with it slipping again now that it has slipped the first time.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
