Cyndi2464 0 Posted October 6, 2008 Hello Smashing Pumpkins, I was banded on friday Oct. 3rd. Everything went well. The first day is a little rough but it gets better from there. The worst is the gas pains in the shoulders. The insisions them self do not hurt. My stomach feels like i did a bunch of situps. We can do this. we can ALL do this. :lol:Thanks for all the support. Ara 1 Posted October 6, 2008 The heating pad works well for the chest pains caused by gas, I have fallen asleep several times hugging it to my chest. Gas is finally starting to move a bit today, and I feel a lot better. Still get tired often but I'm sure that will get better. I managed to eat a little over 1/4 a cup of WW Smooth & Creamy White chocolate Cheesecake (I think it's yogurt) it took me almost 40 min to eat it but boy was it good. KarenK 0 Posted October 6, 2008 It's getting closer! I spoke to the admitting people at the hospital today and got all set there. Another nurse called for my health history. My last pre-op meeting with the surgeon is tomorrow morning at 9:00am. I am scheduled to be at the hospital at 7:15am on Thursday. Wow. I'm nervous. Ready, but nervous. Gracey 7 Posted October 6, 2008 Good luck to all the bandsters this week. You will all do great! It's great to hear from the newly banded that the pain is tolerable. I have a decent pain threshold but the whole getting out of bed thing makes me nervous.
LoneStarLoser 0 Posted October 6, 2008 Karen. Good Luck. You will be fine. My surgery date was Oct. 3. I was nervous until I got there and then I felt fine. The nursing staff and all the people involved were so nice. I am in Austin, Texas and had surgery at Seton Hospital. I couldn't have asked for anything to have been better. One of the nurses called today to make sure I was doing ok. Just think of it as a "procedure", not surgery. We will all be thinking of you and all the Smashing Pumpkins. MyTurn 4 Posted October 6, 2008 Just found out today I was misinformed about my date. I'm 10/13 not 10/14. Closer to goal!!
KarenK 0 Posted October 6, 2008 Karen. Good Luck. You will be fine. ....Lone Star Loser Thanks LoneStarLoser. I haven't had the best of experiences with anesthesia - I think that has me the most nervous. What supplies did you lay in at home before you went? I have plenty of broth, Jello and crystal light. No one has said anything about Protein powder, but it sounds like I should get some of that - and Tylenol. Has anyone tried that Special K Protein Water? I have read about people having gas really bad after the surgery so they recommend the Gas-X strips that melt in your mouth. FYI

Losing 2 0 Posted October 7, 2008 Hello All, so glad to read these post from those of you who banded last week and before. It's great to hear of your 'healing' stories and especially for your experience & tid-bits. I arrived in Detroit this afternoon and am counting the hours til I arrive at the hospital tomorrow morning for 8:30am 'procedure' :crying:. Ok, I thought I'd have so much to say, but I don't. Just reading and ready. Got my liquid tylenol, gas x strips, plenty to read and DH standing by patiently. I will have one overnight in hospital and have reserved my hotel for an extra night after that. We won't drive home until Thursday - thought I could use the extra day of rest. Glad to be off work for 2 weeks. I'm sitting here tonight just thinking - the date is here... can't believe it - but oh so very glad! I'll be thinking of everyone!! Best of Health to You!
