Hello Everyone. It does seem that the October Bandsters/Smashing Pumpkins are not posting as much as before surgery. I hope that everyone is still as excited about the Lab Band as I am. I have lost 49.5 lbs. It has slowed down but I am still losing. I have been going to Curves everyday and I can tell the difference in the way I feel and my body shape is changing. I am so glad I had the surgery. I am wearing closes that I got for gifts for the last few years and they didn't fit. So it is like having new clothes. I finally had to buy some new jeans because the old ones were falling off. I looked like an old bag lady. I only bought one cheap pair because I am waiting until I lose a lot more to invest in clothes.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We did. Now we are gearing up for Christmas.

Take care and Happy Holidays.

I haven't been doing well, but go to my doctor on Thrusday. I'm making a list and hopefully he's going to give me my first fill. They old me not to worry over the holidays, but I haven't had any restriction for a couple weeks now and I've gained 7 pds back:cursing:. I've been reading posts here though and I'm encouraged to do better today. I'm worried that I've stretched my stomach. You've done an amazing job - when were you banded? I was banded 10/24. My goal is to lose 20 lbs by the end of the year. I hope that's possible.

I've been trying to figure out what to do about the clothes situation.

Another 10-15 pounds and I'll be in some clothes left over from the last time I got my act together and lost weight (didn't last, obviously). After that I'm down to buying. My job doesn't let me get away with anything too casual.

How are all of you going to deal with needing new clothes?

Ewiedbingcott..I was banded on Oct. 3, 2008. I lost 16 lbs on the 2 week pre-op diet. I will lose good for about 1 week and then nothing for a week. Then I start to lose again. I just happy that I don't gain anything back, even over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Karen...My support group that meets once a month has a "clothes exchange" about every 3 months. People take in clothes they can't wear anymore and trade for ones they can. Or, I went to Goodwill and bought a couple of tops that were brand new, still had the tags on them for only $4.99 a piece. Look for garage sales in your area. I have even just borrowed a couple of things from my sister until I get to a stable size.

Good Luck everyone.

Ooh yea I know the feeling of loose clothing and I hate it. I am about two pounds away til I hit the 60 pounds loss mark so you know my clothes fit like bags. Well I have been wearing leggins and a few cool dresses I bought at target. I've been getting away with dresses and leggins something I thought I would never ever wear. I am also in between sizes at gap a 14 fits a lil loose but a 12 will show off a roll lol. I am just gonna wait until february to buy some cheap jeans and stick to my million leggins and cute tops.karen I hope your feeling better! What is going on to my october bandsters. Post post! Is good to be supportive!!! Some one sent me a message asking how I lost so much weight so quickly. Well I am eating what is asked of me/suggested and I go to the gym everyday for two to three hours. I take a day off and do moderate exercises on my nintendo wii. I know that if I didn't work out I'd probably wouldn't have lost so much. I am also happy to admit that twice a week I have myself a SMALL treat. Sometimes a mini snickers bar or about ten pringles. No juice but a lot of Water.< /p>

What are you eating??? When was your surgery date? I think I'm going to amend my signature because I always want to know how tall the person is, how much the starting weight was, when they were banded and whether or not they've had fills. Anyway, inquiring minds want to know:smile2:

I hsd surgery on October 8th 2008 and all my weight loss has been post op. I was not on a pre op diet and def had a few margaritas a few days before surgery hehe! I eat a lot of sea food , yogurt , chicken salad and not too much carbs. If I do it comes from my fruits n veggies. I also have Protein Shakes. I would say my diet includes a lot of Proteins and veggies :cursing: especially my string Beans yummy! I am also tall 5'9 so my weight has distributed all over my target area is my belly. Keep up the good work everyone!

Hi, everyone! I just went for my first fill yesterday and it wasn't bad at all. I got 1.5cc. My weight loss has been okay but I am a little concerned about my calorie level. Let me tell you guys a little and maybe you can send me suggestions/comments:

Typical day - 700 cal; 18 fat; 50 carb; 60 prot

I exercise at they gym (eliptical 15 min - treadmill 30 min) 3 days a week.

My doc's office told me to keep under 20 gms of fat and 100 gms of carbs and get at least 60 gms Protein. They did not say anything about calories, etc.

Any suggestions>?

Hi guys!

I wanted to stop in and say hello! My stats are from the day of surgery, so I've beat myself up a little seeing how everyone lost a lot preop! But I am so proud of everyone.

I've had a hard time with school, and finding out my father has liver cancer. But I am not eating my emotions, since I'm at 5cc's ! And I can't really lol!

How is everyone? It is so good to stop by and say hello.

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I cooked for everyone. That was pretty hard. I even made pies. And no I didn't eat any. I did have a wonderful protien pumpkin desert though. It turned out great. How has everyone been doing? Do you have any great reciepes for Christmas that you'd like to share? I've been triing to find some good Snacks that everyone can enjoy and that I can have also. If you have any ideas let me know.

I go for another fill on the 16th. I havn't felt any restriction with the fills I've had. Also I have not had any trouble with food going down:thumbup:. The weight is coming off very slow. You'd think it would go faster since we all changed our eating habits. Well gotta go. :whatchutalkingabout

I go for my first fill next Tuesday. I do not know how many cc's I will receive. I don't believe I received any during the surgery. I have lost 27 lbs. and yes, I wish it would come off faster also but then I realize that it didn't come on overnight so it will not come off overnight. I am walking on my treadmill at least 30 to 40 minutes 5 days a week. My doctor didn't tell me how many calories, fats, Proteins, etc. to watch. Just to follow his instructional sheets, which were Clear Liquids, regular liquids, mushies, and now weeks 4-8 anything but bread, rice, fibrous vegetables, red meat and pork. Also, no carbonated or alcoholic beverages. Make sure I drink 64 oz of Fluid, 32 which needs to be Water. It does get discouraging at times but then I come on here and read the encouraging notes and I get pumped again.

I go for my first fill next Tuesday.

My second fill is the day after yours, beachlover. Hope it goes well for you.

Went to the doctor today about my general icky feeling. He says I'm on too many meds for my changing body. :tongue2:

He took me off one of my diabetes meds, ordered some lab work I need to have drawn on Monday, and told me to continue to check my blood pressure and pulse - if my pulse goes below 60 I'm supposed to call him - and he may lower my blood pressure meds when I go see him in two weeks.

Step one on my goal to be prescription free! Right now, though, I'll be happy with just feeling better again.

Wow, is anyone else on their second fill around 5ccs in a 10cc? II guess my doctor's office is just aggresive? Things have been bittersweet since I'm losing weight, but still in unbelievable pain randomly at night or during the day. Its not an allergy, and it's more than gas. They are now thinking my band may be on a nerve? Does that even make sense? I am still scared out of my wits I did this, because although I am losing I WILL regret it if this pain doesn't stop! It's a little heartbreaking, and I feel guilty for doing this to myself.

They've done stool samples, etc and still don't know. So now they are sending me to their GI specialist, or rather 'a' GI specialist, I kinda feel like I'm being shipped off. But I juist want it to stop so bad, I'm going throiguh stages of anger or something.

Either way, I hope everyone else is doing well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
