Congrats! I had to take a class with a nutrionist. It was very good, she told me what I will eat on my pre op diet, after the surgery through like 6 weeks. There was information about the surgery before and after, medication before and after. I was approved on July 7th and just finished all of my pre op test and now I am waiting for a date. The main thing in Protein I've started testing a few she had on her list so I'll be ready for my pre op diet. It's taken awhile for my taste buds to adjust so I am glad I've had this time to adjust

I am glad I am not the only one trying out Protein Shakes ahead of time. Every time someone posts a new one I get dressed and go shopping!! So far Gen Soy (unflavored Soy Protein with Hershey's Syrup added to skim milk) is horrible and I am not thrilled with any of the Unjury packs I have tried. The EAS Advantage (best price Walmart) isn't too bad. I am going to try the Isopure soon, can't find the Cytosport anywhere in this town. Also can't find the Slim Fast Carb control.

I think Target has Cystort Protein I have not tried it yet, Have tried the Protein Shots, I mis it with crystl lite. I have used the SlimFast Optima powder. chocolate I add milk a couple icecubes and splenda packets and blend kinda makes a thick frosty shake. The vanilla pwder I put in frozen strwberrys and mix with the milk, not to bad.

Way to go! Keep us posted on what they taste like. I haven't started trying any just in case I am not approved by insurance.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
