My doctor had begun using the Realize band so I didn't have a choice. I am just presuming that he knows best!!!

Hello All...

Got a question. How does everyone do with rice?

Mom is making Broccoli, Rice, and cheese Casserole just for me, and I don't want it to go to waste. I've heard some people have issues with rice.

I think I may have to have some liquid taken out. I can't eat anything, but I'm not really eating anyway. Can't decided if it is going to get better or not.

Penny

They told me to stay away from both broccoli and rice.... I haven't tried to eat either yet am too afraid... good luck

It's been about two months sense I was banded and I can eat just about anything. Beans & rice is one of my faverites as long as there is some type of meat in it. My daughter made some home made beans & rice last week and a couple weeks ago I baught some store baught Beans & Rice. Have not had any problems so far.

Hang it there, things can only get better. :tongue_smilie:

Can you ever eat bread again? Just curious...

Thanks MJ

Yes, the little bit I know about it right now some people can't eat soft bread.:tongue2: but you can eat well toasted bread. I have tried toasted bread with my spiesual homemade tuna mix and have not had any trouble. Some time in the future I'm going to try a normal sandwich of some type or another. We always use 100% whole wheat bread.

I have already been eating some very good whole wheat creakers I found in Krogers in the Health food section I really like and can handle.

Hi everyone,

Looks like no one has posted for several days. How is everyone doing? I am struggling again. I messed up on New Year's Eve. I had too many shrimp and some chips/dip. So far I have not lost anything in 2009. I need to get back on track. Has anyone else started the new year with a slow start?

I have not been good since before Christmas and have not lost anything for weeks! My family is leaving today and tomorrow I will get back on track. I can eat too much and may call about another fill before my scheduled one. I am disappointed I have not even been trying, but at least I did not gain. That is pretty amazing in itself!:tt2:

I was banded October 20. I have had one fill on December 4. My next fill is Jan 7. The Doc said I have about 3CC in a 10cc band. He said if I did not feel much restriction to come in two weeks after the 4th. That would have been around December 18.

I said Fuggetaboutit! It was to close to Christmas. I can eat anything. There is some restriction as far as fullness. Not a lot. I decided to leave myself alone through the holiday. I was excellent up until the Dec 24. If I could eat bread, prime rib, Pasta, turkey, chicken, rice, pancakes without a problem through the holiday why mess with it.

I have lost twenty lbs so far. It should have been about 25 by Jan 7 but I am not going to sweat it.

I am so proud of you! You have shown great restraint, commitment and good sense.

I think exercise is the key to getting over my plateau. My "current" excuse for not walking is the Northern IL winter. I know the malls are accessible for walking but it is not as inviting as the fresh air on a tolerable weather day. With new resolve, I will begin anew! I will lose another 10 pounds by March 1st. That would be 148 by March 1st (my b'day). Hold me accountable!

I've decided to consider it a major achievement that I didn't gain anything over the holidays. In years past it hasn't been unusual to see a 5-10 lb gain from Thanksgiving to New Years. So, I'm trying to give myself a break from the self-criticism for not losing anything and am getting back on the wagon - off to the gym for the third day in a row.

I often thought "if only I could just take a month off work and focus on my weight loss" but I've discovered I actually need the structure work provides. The last couple of weeks have been very hard!

Hope everyone has had a great holiday - however you all did weight-wise.

Yea...That is great Nazzy! We each have to find our own way. I figure in no time out all I will be cut-off from certain foods with each fill...so why rush it. It happening. I probably losy a few more lbs since the fourth. I know I didn't gain.

Ohhh...and, FANTASTIC on the walking! You go girl!!!

First Holiday Season EVER that has happened!:)

Goo luck everyone...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
