Gurgling...I was so embarrassed

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I am so happy for this forum! I have had my band since April and have had four fills. I got my most recent fill a week ago and I feel a good amount of restriction this time. I was in a meeting today and when I drank my coffee, I could hear a gurgling sound. I tried to play it off and everyone was talking so no one heard anything. I took another sip and it happened again. It was like you could hear the liquid going down to the stomach. Has anyone experienced this? I have not told anyone at work that I have the band but if this keeps up, I may have to say something..LOL.

I have not been banded but I have thought about tummy noises. I have a friend that has had the gastric bypass and I have heard her tummy noises. I probably will play it off if not hey it is what it is....

Hey April

I was banded on July 31st and I know exactly what your talking about:sneaky:

It has happened to me recently but no one was around. For me I think i drank to fast. try taking small sips ( as if you are sipping on tea) when drinking

Dont tell anyone unless your comfortable. Your tummy could be making noises for a number of reasons...just look around like your wondering yourself whose tummy is singing

My stomach has been doing the gurgling sound and I have been bringing food back up as well if I don't chew properly and it's too big to go down. So I am going to get some Fluid removed at my next fill appointment on the 3rd of September.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
