I need help with breakfast ideas. I have been banded 5 weeks now. I haven't had my first fill yet so I am empty. But I am sick of Protein Shakes and eggs. Any other suggestions?

I was banded on 7/11/08 and have not had a fill yet either. I am also tired of eggs. I have started eating greek style yogurt as it has more Protein than regular yogurt. I doctor it up with fruit and/or flavored Torani sugar free syrups. It seems to keep me full for a few hours.

Cream of wheat made with vanilla slim fast and Water, cinnamon, vanilla and a dash of salt. It's WONDERFUL and loaded with Iron. Once made I add half a scoop of unflavored Protein powder. Even my DH likes it!!!

Quaker makes a high Protein instant oatmeal that is pretty darn good. They have two flavors, maple and brown sugar and banana bread. Kashi has two or three high protein cold cereals. I don't care for them much, but they are good in a pinch.

I eat a lot of cottage cheese and yogurt for breakfast. Of course low fat......

On the weekends I eat omlettes or eggs. I don't have a problem with eggs as I beat them with milk and soft cook them. It's more like a custard than a sticky egg and it goes down easy.

ricotta cheese inside a small baked apple with cinnamon isnt half bad either.

Dang, Aubrie, you're making me look forward to breakfast tomorrow morning! :crying:

I usually have yogurt with a scoop of EAS - tastes like chocolate pudding. Altho, I just bought one of those little pouches of cooked, crumbled bacon - found in the salad dressings aisle - and tried my 1/4 cup of scrambled egg beaters with a tablespoon of the bacon. Wow! It's power packed and a little goes a long way.

As Homer Simpson says, "Mmmm, bacon!"

I do A LOT of greek yogurt too!!! I mix in some blueberries or raspberries and some splenda...it really is yummy!!

Funnything...I go by Amybee all the time...and I went to ASU...just thought it was sort of a coincidence!

Hi! I think outside of the box too since my tummy really doesn't like breakfast. eggs usually made me sick and after awhile especially on hot days oatmeal isn't too fun. So, I started eating Protein in the form of chicken. Since I have low Iron levels to begin with, I make chicken ahead of time and slice it into small pieces and then pack a little baggie with a few slices for breakfast. Having the protein really jump starts my day and gets me going.

Greek yogurt has a lot of Protein in it. I find myself eating it more and more. I don't care for it plain, so I add a tbsp of honey to mine. You could also mix Cereal with yogurt instead of milk. I do this because if I use milk it goes straight down and doesn't keep me satisfied very long.

Aubrie~ Love all your breakfast ideas!

I used to love fried chicken for breakfast. Now I coat (de-skinned) chicken breasts in olive oil, roll them in seasoned bread crumbs, and place on a cookie sheet, cover with foil and bake in the oven on 350 until the chicken is done. It tastes a lot like fried chicken, only better for you. It's a Protein packed breakfast that will keep you full for hours. You can also coat the chicken in tobasco sauce to spice it up a little.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
