I was banded 03/06/07. I have lost 58 lbs. My last fill was 07/01/08. I was fine or I thought I was fine. I began to throw up, called doctor. They told me that my stomach was irritated. So i was on liquids for 2 days 1 day soft foods, then regular foods. It stopped for about a 8 days started again. Went to doctor, he took out 2cc's of my 3.1 cc's on Tuesday.

I felt better once this was done. Then I began to have what i was thinking real bad indigestion. Pain was horrible. I was taking mylanta but it was not working the pain persisted.

Went back to doctor today, he took the rest of the fills out. I had to go get an xray, drink the barrium.

Doctor says could be something else going on. Could be esophagus spasms, possible band slippage, hernia.

I did not get the results yet, hoping all is well.:cursing:

Has anyone ever experienced this, that can give me some advice.

Update, nurse told me tolday, there was no slippage, bur that the xray showed a hiatal hernia. She is going to speak with doctor about what the next step is

I too am having some issues with my last fill. I woke up last night and couldn't even swallow Water. I went in today and the removed all 2cc. from my band. That changed things, so they put 1/2 back in. I'll see how it goes. I had GERD at night, and I've never had reflux before....so the dr. told me it was an indicator I was too tight.

I've gotta do this for 3 wks. and then we'll see how I do. My situation sounds like yours...weight loss amount, last fill too tight....etc. I hope it's just a need for our stoma's heal themselves. Good luck to you!

I hope everything comes back ok. Try not to stress over too much in that stress affects your band as well.

Until you know what is really going on, the best thing to do is just to stay on liquids/mushies. At least that way you can do no harm and your stomach can begin healing a little easier. Good luck and please let us know the results.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
