I love my band...don't get me wrong. I would never have made it this far without my little helper. But sometimes I get so frustrated. I know I have good restriction and I'm happy with that, but then WHAM! I got sick with the stuffy head, coughing achey stuff and my band closed up tight so I have to work at even getting my liquids down.

When I had to get a bit of an unfill a couple weeks back, my fill doc said that me working nights 3-4 days (excuse me nights) of the week and then turning around to be a normal person of sleeping at night on my days off will keep my hormones on the upheaval quite a bit and hense...affects my band.

It's a touchy little thing ain't it?

But on the flip side...my goal was to get to 250 by my son's graduation from college. He's graduating on Saturday and I'm at 251.5 (on my scale AND the doctor's scale) so I count myself as having that goal. WHOOWHEE!

Darcey, my band is so fickle too. I had a fill 2 weeks ago, felt nothing, got careless & boom, I PB'd & now am really tight. Go figure. That's great news about getting to your goal. Congratulations on that and on your son's graduation.

Congratulations on your goal met!! Darcey, I hear you about the fickleness but I've learned to appreciate it. The days when, for whatever reason, I can't eat much are sort of like gifts. Most of the time I should be trying harder to avoid extra calories, so days like these make that effort easier and I very much like them.

Have a great time at the graduation, and send him our congratulations as well!!

Congratulations Darcey! I too have a fickle band, which refuses to let me know I'm full until it's too late and I get the "slime". You would think after 6 months I'd know, but I'm still trying to find the ultimate sweet spot.

Congrats Darcey! Great work!

I'm a little worried about you working nights then trying to be on a "normal" schedule the rest of the week. I'm worried that you will completely throw off your cercadian rythm (okay, why doesn't the F7 key work on this site? :( ) and get comepletly out of whack.

When I was in my 20's I used to work as a short order cook. This one place I was at I worked all three shifts every week. 2 graves, 2 days and a swing every week. After about 6 months I completely lost it. It was so bad my personality changed and I completely lost my sence of humor. Cranky, crabby, snappy and no sence of humor!

And don't even get me started on how bad it messed up my cycle...

I worry about you!

Congratulations! I think a lot of us have experienced fickle bands. I wolfed down a bowl of guacamole without any problem a few weeks ago, then got a nasty PB from salad the next day. Funny how it's never big helpings of salad that go down easy, it's always stuff like chocolate cake, ice cream, and tortilla chips.< /p>

Congrats on reaching your goal. Geez, I too can relate to the fickle band. Who knows if what I ate tomorrow, I'll be able to eat today? Makes meal planning a bit tricky!

Thanks everybody for the support!

Crystal...you are such a doll for worrying about me. I actually have been enjoying my schedule. It's much more laid back at night. I am under so much less stress than my previous job that my cycles are actually better! I start work on Sunday nights at 6:45 pm and work until 7:15 am Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (finishing up my week Wednesday morning). This is every other week. My long week I work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday finishing up my work week Thursday morning. When I finish my week, I just take care of me (long hot bath, nap off and on during the day). I don't have a SO and my boys are off at college (actually my youngest will be moving back but will most likely working the same schedule I do) so I don't work around anybody else in the house. I just feel so much more freedom with this schedule.

Thanks for the concerns!

Love you guys!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
