I'm getting my first fill today, AFRAID

Recommended Posts

Okay I am getting my first fill later today, and I am terrified. :smile2: I have been reading all of these threads about the bad experiences people have had getting fills. I should not have read them because now I am anxious. Please help, what should I expect. Hopefully I am just overreacting and it won't be bad.

April you are right, it does seem just like yesterday. The time is flying by. I don't feel really different yet. Well, since I've had the first fill, the band is really tight in the morning. Not having much restriction though, so I really have to watch what I eat and try really really hard to utilize Portion Control. My doc told me to come back in 2 weeks for another fill if I didn't feel any restriction. So I'll be making that appointment this week. Trust me when I say, it is not as easy as some people on this site makes it seem. You really do have to work hard at making this thing work. The band is just a tool, really it is. It's no magic wand.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
