Bandsters in Corpus Christi

Recommended Posts

Anyone out there living in Corpus Christi? I currently have consult appointments for (2) Drs. I went to a WLS support group, locally, but only folks with gastric bypass were present. Let me know if your local! I'd love to hear from you.

Hi Shawn and Irma Linda. I am a new bandster living in Corpus Christi. I am just getting started, but everything is going well. I am looking forward to this new adventure. Are you interested in a Corpus lapband support group? My surgeon required me to see a counsellor here in town prior to having the surgery. He has counseled several lapband patients before and mentioned to me that he would like to start a lap band support group. Let me know if you are interested. Good luck to you both and keep in touch. I will add you to my buddy list.

Hello Corpus Christians! Wow, this was one of my "old" posts back when I was investigating my options/surgeons. I'm glad that I was banded, however, there is no EASY way to weight loss. It is all work.

I will be banded for 2 years in Sept! It's hard to believe.

Shawn

Well Halleluia!!!!

I have FINALLY found some people from my town!! HOORAY!!!!

I was banded in November of 2007. My doctor is Craig Chang in Victoria. I have gone to the support group in Doctor's Regional conference hall on Monday nights. Yes, you are right, it's mostly bypass patients. I've found some of them to be downright hostile about my band. It kind of pissed me off, but I kept going. Dr. Chang wanted me to keep going as a representative for the band, and that it works. (50 pounds in 5 months). But now they have changed the time and it's right when my Water aerobics class is. My exercise takes precidence. so...... I'm going to try and come at least once a month. I'm on this message board a lot, so we need to keep in touch. PLEASE post to my private message if you want more information, support, help. Right now I was going through my clothes and wanted to know if the group wanted to do a clothes swap. People start out at all different sizes, and clothes are so expensive to keep buying every month or two as we shrink. what do you think? I'd LOVE to meet all of you.

Hey all Corpus Christi Bandsters! There is a support group in Corpus that is for band patients only! It is ran by Dr. Glenn Griffin, local band surgeon. The group meets the second Thursday of every month at 7 PM in the Spohn wellness center on the second floor of Sunrise Mall behind the Burlington Coat Factory. Every one is welcome and I hope people will try and come. Support is the key to success! I help facilitate the support group so let me know if you have any questions.

I'm here. I'm here all the time. I was banded in November of 07 so I'm a little more than a year out. I've lost about 70 pounds so far. Had a set back this past August. I had my Gallbladder removed. Total unfill. I had to start over again with the fills. So I didn't lose quite as quickly as I had wanted, but I'm still happy with my results.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
