Sooo today was a very exciting day for me. Today I met with my surgeon Dr. Micheal Snyder. I have been approved to have the surgery, but I have to wait for my insurance to approve it first which may take a couple of weeks..

Im really trying to find someone who is about to get it as well, and lives in the Denver, CO area. If not its still nice to meet new friends.

I cant wait for my journey to begin. I consider this surgery to be a rebirth and bday gift to myself since Sept 25th I will be 28 and its going to be a new begining for myself and my son once I have this done.

It's good to know there is so much support out there. I love this site, I truely do!

Hi

I am in Reunion, very close to Brighton, I grocery shop there all the time!! I was banded by Dr. Snyder in June. I love my band!! I am down 60 lbs (I lost 10 of that before surgery while I was waiting from the seminar to my consult appt). Did you get your date yet?? Good luck to you!

I was self pay so that speeds the process up some, no insurance hoops to jump through. My insurance did pay for most of the preop testing, I had to meet my deductible and they didn't pay for the psych. My process was fast in hindsight but at the time it still seemed to take forever. I went to my seminar on 4/26, consult appt on 5/14, surgery on 6/5 and I was on vacation for 10 days of that time or it could've maybe been quicker. I went on a cruise less than 2 weeks before surgery. Talk about a last supper!! LOL

I was almost wondering if i were to do the self pay and then just have it go to my insurance what would happen?!?!

I think most insurances have to preapprove the procedure so if they don't preapprove and you submit afterwards I doubt it would be covered. But I am no expert that's for sure!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
