I am three weeks post-op and my doctor has told me that I can take pills now because I keep getting sick from chewables.

Has anyone else started taking pills in place of Multivitamins, Calcium, pain relievers?

I just want to make sure this is really okay. Multivitamins are rather large and I am afraid it will get stuck.

I am filled to 3.5 cc's at the moment and take a regular Multi-Vitamin, a B complex supplement, and an Effexor tablet every morning with no problems. And yes, my doctor does know and has no problem with it as long as I don't.

According to my doctor you have to take 2 multivamins and 2 calcuim a day.

The reason for the pills is because liquid and chewables make me sick. Which is not good once banded.

Another big no no is flintstones as they do not provide the same nutritional value as the Multivitamin. Also...just an FYI, I don't eat chocolate, can't stand the smell. I know I am weird.

Citrical makes a calcium citrate and offers it in new petite sizes (read the packaging as they also offer regular sizes/got it at Wal-mart.) It is about half of a regular calium and I have been taking that since banding one week ago and things are fine.

I'm also 3 week post-op. I take everything by pill and they go right down! I take my prescriptions and my Prilosec OTC with no trouble at all. You can always cut them in half if you like with a pill cutter from any drugstore or Walmart.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
