I have found that of I eat too much it acts the same as really bad acid reflux. It may be that you are eating too much. Also watch out eating and drinking. If you drink before the 30 minute wait time is up that can cause the same symptoms as acid reflux or at least that is what I am finding. Good luck!

I am in the same boat. I even had some fill taken out, had an upper GI done, and no change. I don't have a slipped band (Thank God) and now I'm not tight enough as I eat too much. I go in 2 weeks to have some of the fill they took out put back in. But I still get reflux. I'm living on Tums. I even take 40mg of Prilosec a day faithfully. Have for years, but now the Tums, Pepsid, Rolaids, and Maalox are my friends. They help, but does not take care of the problem or solve it right away. I suffer for hours at night. I'm now sleeping sitting up, literally, in my bed. I'm tired.

It is awful for you with reflux-i was on 3 meds 3 times a day pre-op~~and now take no meds at all.i have no reflux-almost no headaches and only one Migraine in 10 months as opposed to almost one to two a month pre.

My knees don t hurt and backache is almost never.!i ve lost the equivelent of4 bowling balls. It wears you out carrying all the weight around.

My daughter said the other day as we were walking back to her car after a shopping day~"mom will you slow down and wait for me?!"............thats a once in a lifetime statement for me.she is 100# and always been a fitness buff. They were always slowing to accomidate me before.

I hope you find a reason and cure for the acid~before surgery-i said if it just would help me with the reflux-it would be worth it.and it has done so very much more for me.

I suffer from occasional reflux and heartburn as well. Sometimes I get heartburn from not eating which is strange. Tums with a little milk usually help.

It seems like a lot of people have the opposite post surgery. No reflux/heartburn before and now they have it, or vice versa.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
