Hello all I am Michelle, I have a appointment next week with the Dr to talk about lap band surgery. I have a couple questions maybe someone can answer for me.

  1. How long is the recover time since I am thinking of having surgery why I am of for college in December which is about 4 weeks.
  2. And I am worried about having to much hanging skin after the surgery.

Time to recover....I think the really depends on the person. I took 3 days off from work when I had mine done but everyone is different.

Hanging skin...again I think that is different for everyone. I have more skin now then I ever thought about BUT the Lapband is so worth it!

Good-luck to you ! Oh and btw lol hey and welcome :wink2:

I've heard that exercising helps with the hanging skin. I'm hoping that's true...

I had my surgery on a Friday and was back to work on Monday. Now, I was not moving swiftly but I was not in any pain or discomfort. I felt completely like myself(mobility wise) 4-5 days after surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
