thetvgeneral 0 Posted August 19, 2008 I'm not much of a cook but I'm finding creative ways to do many things as I wait to start eating solid food again. But I have a question. I know most foods freeze well and will start doing that when I get the go ahead. But in the meantime...does anyone know if tuna, egg, and chicken salad can be frozen? I have no problem with having a serving or two in my fridge to eat a day or so later. But if I made enough say for a week, could I freeze it?? I'm all about making things as easy as possible for myself, especially now with going back to school, working full time and having three crafts shows coming down the pike. I don't want to sabotage myself in anyway just because my time might be limited. I figure the more armed I am...the more I can stick to eating the right food in the right amount. Thanks!!!
heartfire 4 Posted August 19, 2008 Hmmm, never thought of that! You might have to try it, defrost it and see if you can handle it or if it changes at all. I figure that those are used in casseroles and such and those are frozen for later meals all the time. I don't see why it couldn't work. The egg might change texture though and that could be an issue. I think it sounds like a great idea! Let us know how it all turns out!
dwrd73 0 Posted August 19, 2008 I've never tried freezing any of those. And, yes I do cook! I'm the more the chef in the house then my wife. Here is a link to the USDA site which contains information on what can and cannot freeze. Freezing and food Safety Also, are you a teacher? You mentioned school starting. And, what type of crafts do you make for the craft show? My wife is an artist. We did one craft show years ago before we had kids.

thetvgeneral 0 Posted August 19, 2008 (edited) For Valentine's Day we had our kids make heart shaped crayons to hand out in their kindergarten classes. They were fun to make. how cute!! it was fun for me at first...until i started selling 300-400 bags at a show. it takes me two full weekends to make that much. now this is just like being at work. so i'm glad that i decided to only do three shows this year...especially after i chose to be banded. I'd be interested in the chicken salad freezing thing. I LUV chicken salad and if I could make a bunch and freeze it, that would be awesome. Keep us posted! will do! guess i'll try it this weekend and see what happens! Edited August 19, 2008 by thetvgeneral
