Water Retention??

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone.

I am training for The 3 Day Walk. So this weekend I probably logged over 20 miles (10 yesterday), and I weighed 5 pounds MORE this morning than on Friday!!! What? I have been completely ON PROGRAM, and I just don't understand. Anyone else go through this? Could I be retaining Water? I don't know, I didn't eat 20,000 calories this weekend :wink2:

it could be Water retention...with alll that walking that u are doing, you are loosing water...through sweat. You need to make sure you keep ur body hydrated. On average you shoudl be getting 2litres of Water a day but with all that excercise im sure you will need a whole lot more!

When ur body hasnt got enough Fluid, its hold on to the suppllys that it has.

Try upping ur water intake and see if that helps

xx

After a particularly strenuous workout if I haven't worked out in a while, I notice the scale goes up between 3-5 lbs for a few days. I'm thinking it must be Water retention.

You can also easily be building muscle. I've been running a lot (for the past month) and haven't lost a pound. This past week (glutenous behavior) being the exception - I was on plan for three weeks. By the book. I still gained weight. I lost body fat and inches though. If you haven't started measuring yourself, start. It can tell you more sometimes than the scale.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
