the biggest loser (7)

Fellow Biggest Loser Fan here - I love the girl on Yellow and can't stand Heba - she rubbed me wrong from the very beginning then last night she really just ruined it for me. I liked her hubby and I like the guy who did all the running last night. But my favorite is the girl in yellow. She doesn't seem big enough to win though. (but then again, look at aly from last year).

I too am tired of learning about how yummy Jello with a 20 Calorie squirt of NEW Cool Whip in a can!

Ugh.

Oh...and another thing....

If they are going to have in-show advertising, then cut the other commercials out! ARGH! I feel blasted at all angles and I just fast forward through it all anyway. I feel ripped off! I want to see the exercising and the training. I really don't want to spend so much time on the drama or the products!

Manatee - I wish I were blessed with Tivo or DVR...darnit I want it!!!

I'm tired of the drama too....good lord - when did the trainers receive counseling degrees???? I want to see some yelling and sweating. Exercise, Exercise, Exercise...I'm sure they are working out - but whomever is doing the editing makes them look lazy and whiny!

Had to jump in here...

I'm with y'all about the change in Heba - she seemed like such a good person initially, but when she split the couples up, I was pissed off! I don't care what the husband said to her or did to her, you don't split up couples. :D

I can't stand that brown couple - snarky, disrespectful and scheming...I wish they'd just GO HOME!

I :cool2: Colleen - I feel her pain not having her dad with her and worrying about him and how he's doing. His health was the worst of anyone I've ever seen on the show - I'm so glad he's doing well at home.

I was NOT sorry to see purple mom go home - she was a whiner - but her progress photos and video were awesome! She did a very good job at home - I softened my view of her after I saw how well she did and how loving her relationship with her hubby seems to be.

The mother-daughter dynamic about the divorce was hard to watch...I completely understand her feelings about being 'abandoned'. Why take two children but not the third? No way would I have left my children - any of them...but the call to her father was sweet - he gave her permission to be close to her mom and not feel funny about it, like she was betraying him. That's crucial in those type of relationships.

I'll be tuning in next week as well - and I agree about the constant commercialism - STOP IT ALREADY!

At first I felt the same as you. I guess what got me is that we keep hearing about it every week. So much drama! And the way they edit things, it can be very misleading. It appears that she was "abandond", but we don't know the whole story. By doing the math, the daughter is 26 years old. The mom left 6 years ago. So, she was 20 when it happened. I'm sure that divorce of your parents at any age isn't easy. Maybe the other sisters were younger and still in high school. Maybe she is daddy's little girl and wouldn't leave her dad. Maybe she didn't want him to be alone because everyone else was leaving. Maybe she wouldn't talk to mom for 6 years because she was mad at her for leaving him. They just don't give us the details. They only give us what they think we want to see to keep their ratings up. All I see right now is whining. And I agree - the trainers are not counselors!

Ok, where do I start.

I used to really like Heba, but no more. She has such an attitude and is so on my nerves.

I thought what the red team did during the challenge ws not cool either. Why be sneaky? Just speak up and say that you are not doing it and start eating. Kinda cowardly in my opinion.

The purple people grew on me. Amy seems to respond better with Bob. That's good.

I don't like the girl on the brown team at all, but the guy doesn't bother me. He seems kinda nice actually.

Overall, I don't like the blue team much at all. The guy(Grady I think) is ok, and I like Amy ok, but the rest I don't care for. They also don't seem to be a well gelled team. Splitting up on that challenge spoke volumes to me.

The black team seems kinda like the underdogs to me and i really like them because they are in it together at this point. Just watching that 14 hour challenge. The blue team was running it as individuals, but the

black team was in it together, win or lose. I am such the teeam player type person... I was so glad the black team won.

Colleen is definately my favorite individual. She is very calm and seems to want to work. She stays clear of the drama.

Ok, that is my synopsis on the Biggest Loser. I agree with everyone that isis time to get busy and quit talkin!!

The great thing is that one can watch the whole 2 hour show in about 15 minutes via TiVo

it's the only way i can watch it - that and the product placements / advertising....i got wk 1 who the sponsors were.

keep wondering if a pshychological exam was done on the contestants....seems this season a lot more drama (guess that would be the case however w/families), who knows....DH is done watching, says he doesn't care for any of the contestants...left to watch alone..:frown:LOL

i should go back in my tivo and count how many minutes of a 2hrs show, had actual physical activity - gym work. i watch project runway for it's drama - i "liked" BL for the hardcore working out.....still holding out they get a move along...

I suspect that the move to more drama was deliberate on the part of the producers. It seems to be a trend with reality tv.

I know my two favorite shows seem to have gone that way in their casting... DWTS had many more controversial figures on them this season than last and the producers had been quoted as saying last season the contestants were "too nice". TAR did that as well and I no longer watch it for that reason.

If you are going to watch reality TV, you need to get up on the Lingo, babee. :)

Some people do call TAR, the AR but I hate that!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
