mtnman428 1 Posted August 18, 2008 Has anyone tried to eat low-fat Italian sausage (or regular, turkey sausage, etc..)?? If so, do you have to take the casing off before eating? I'm on solid foods now and I was thinking of making Italian sausage in the crockpot with peppers, onions and red sauce, but I don't want to if I can't eat it. Fanny Adams 7 Posted August 18, 2008 That sounds delish! Make some for me, please! (I don't think you'd have trouble with the casing if you are going to crockpot it, but that's no guarantee - just take it carefully).
mtnman428 1 Posted August 18, 2008 LOL! I'll bring you some if I can stay with you in Australia...I've always wanted to go there! Thanks.
jamd 0 Posted August 18, 2008 YUMMM!!! I just had sausage and peppers for dinner last night and all I can say is YUMMMMY!! No problems, the crockpot makes it so moist. ENJOY!
Fanny Adams 7 Posted August 18, 2008 Hehe - you're on! I've got a spare bedroom and everything - but bring the crockpot!
grlwunderkas 1 Posted August 18, 2008 I find that as long as I take small bites and chew VERY well, I have no problems with sausage - either a sweet italian sausage, or kielbasa or smoked sausage...I just have to take smaller bites.
HeatherO 7 Posted August 18, 2008 I don't eat pork, but I do eat Kosher or halal beef or turkey sausages and never have a problem with casings if they are chewed well. Having them cook slowly in the crock pot will probably work great. Just go slow and you should be good to go :0).
aubrie 6 Posted August 18, 2008 I eat Kielbasa fairly often and don't have a problem with the casing. I do however have to take TINY bites.
BansterNYC 0 Posted August 18, 2008 I love sausage from Sam's Club -- particularly chicken Sausage with asiago cheese and spinach. Only 110 calories and a whopping 15g of Protein for each link! I do take it out of the casing, break it up, and brown it in a pan.
annabella 7 Posted August 18, 2008 I haven't had a problem with sausage either. I eat turkey sausage, low fat any sausage. LOL
