It's probably stress. Periods are reknowned for being extremely early or fashionably late when we're stressed. if you're worried, call your doc.

If you are on your pre-op diet then why would you still be taking your birth control? BC is known for making your blood clot and that is the very last thing you want during and after surgery.... Am I missing something here? My surgery is 9/15 and I have already stoppe dtaking my pills per the surgeon and my pcp. I'm am seriously confused!!!!!!!

I never stopped taking my birth control pills. My surgery is TOMORROW MORNING!!! haha. But, I asked my doctor if I needed to stop taking them (because I had read about people stopping taking them on here) and he said no. I asked why and he said "people only need to stop taking their birth control if they already have known blood problems" or something along those lines. It's doctors preference I guess.

Call your doctor tomorrow and see what they say. I agree that severe diet changes can throw your body off completely. I respectfully disagree that you should not be on BC. That is a call that only your doctor should make. I think that it's one of those things that varies depending on your doctor, just like we see so many varieties of pre-op diets being ordered.

Thanks everyone for all your feedback. i know this may be kind of silly asking strangers stuff like this. haha :wink2: its just that i feel so comfortable on here, like family... ya know?!? anyways- as far as my birth control goes. my dr hasnt ordered me stop taking them. i think some of the girls comments are right that it just depends on the dr. but- just to be on the safe side i will call tomorrow. both my gyno and my lap band dr. id hate to have to post pone surgery for something like this. ugh! :frown: anyways- no... no hemroids. haha

well- thanks for all the feedback!!!

Yes I'd say to definitely call the Dr.s tomorrow. It may not have anything to do with your pre-op diet, and God Forbid that it anything more, but it is always better to be safe than sorry. Then you can also double check about your BC. Good luck!

I do agree that it is always the dr.'s call, however knowing the history of BC I believe that is playing with fire! To me it would be no different than taking a couple of asprin right before surgery..... it's a no no!

I never stopped taking my birth control pills. They give you something during surgery to prevent your blood from clotting. Plus, they usually put the compressive boots on your post-op. Also, you should be walking around a lot post surgery to get rid of the gas. So the chance of you clotting is pretty small.

TRUE.....everyone should be up and about after surgery and when they are not you get those pretty little boots to keep the blooding flowing however, I have always been that 1 in a billion chance and I'm sure I'm not the only one.....

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
