220 pounds to lose

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, This is my first post on this site. I have yet to be banded but Sep 9 is my tenative surgery date . I am very excited, this was something I put a lot of thought in to. People always ask me if I am nervous and my answer is always no. I am not scared at all, I just feel this excitment because I know my life is going to change for the better.

Wish me luck!

best of luck traysag.

Take it one day at a time and slow from the beginning. There is lots of advice to be had from some folks here who have been through it. I know I relied on them throughout this first year for me.

Keep the good attitude, which I believe is 90% of the battle...the other 10% is remembering this surgery isn't the end all, be all - but rather a tool for you to use on your journey to better health.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate all the positive feedback. I haven't been reading any books and I actually hadn't even thought of that untill you mentioned it. I will check in to the book you mentioned.

I started with 200 pounds to lose and now, after three months, have 145 pounds to lose. It is difficult to keep focused on the little steps. I think it's human nature to want to have it all RIGHT NOW!!! But I do my best "work" when I concentrate on the lap band guidelines and set little goals. Right now that is to break the momentous 300 pound mark.

To all of you who are just starting out good luck! Take it slow and you will succeed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
