Here i go again...am i pigging out?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys...i was banded on July 31st and in the beginning everything was great:smile: Now im in the mushy stage and I am having issues.

First i throw up/pb'd for eating to heavily during mushy stage ( I scarfed down grits and eggs and cheese) and I learned my lesson. But I found the dish thats mushy and delicous....egg salad:drool:

But now i am like eating it every other day and I use 3 Large to XL eggs and just now i had a small cup of applesauce right after. Am I pigging out? I dont have any fill yet so I know i should concentrate on healing but i dont want to damage the band

What do yall think :mad2:

Congrats on your recent surgery. It is completely normal to feel hungry and want to "pig" out at this stage. Your stomach is healing and is not as swollen as it was in the beginning. Remember, you are in the beginning stages which are about healing the stomach and ensuring band placement. You have yet to get a fill and be restricted. You felt restricted before cause of the swelling and irritation to the stomach due to the surgery. Even though I don't think what you ate is considered pigging out - you must be careful not to overeat and expand your pouch at this point. You need the first 6 weeks to allow the stomach to heal and allow the band's placement site to heal too. Overeating can stretch the pouch and cause less restriction for you later on. If I recall correctly, you should be eating 2-4 oz per meal - try your hardest to stick to that. If you continued to feel hungry - wait as long as you can and then eat something like a sugar free Jello, yogurt, a full liquid so it will go thru the band and not stretch it. Don't worry - you aren't alone in this stage. It is hard and you are doing fine. Do your best, that's all we can do. Good luck.:mad2:

I was never given a limit, just sample meals, I know some who eat 1 cup, some who eat 1/2 cup and some who eat more and it works for them. Iv been having 3 strips of turkey bacon and one fried egg and it works for me, I need the extra Protein. Thats still less than 200 calories for Breakfast.

Just got my first fill and trying to determine if I can feel any restriction, but I dont think so. They did remind me that if I ate more than 20 grams of Protein at a time, the rest would be wasted, the body can only absorb 20 grams of protein at once. I have been trying to do lots of fish to up the protein.

As long as you watch the carbs/sugar intact and eat lots of protein to fuel muscle and fat burning you will lose. Im not eating bread but rarely, doing low calories veggies and shrimp or fish or sometimes chicken. I dont lose as well on chicken because it has more calories for the amount of protein. I would love to wave a majic wand but I know for me this works. When you arent restricted try for protein because you wouldnt get as hungry in between times.

Thanks guys I am going to try to stick to 2-4 oz (Thanks BBJersey)and consume Protein first. Since i am eating eggs so much i am hoping I am getting my Protein.

Dont worry Flowers, i have heard you will need more than one fill to hit your sweet spot. I cant wait to eat some crispy bacon:tongue2: you sound like you are doing fine

Its a little frustration becouse my surgeon was top notch but the nutrionist is like an urban legend at the hospital...i have heard she is there but can never find her. But i will have to take responsibility and be mindful of what i am eating:smile2:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
