LSF 264 Posted August 16, 2008 I'm still going through my 6 month waiting period before I get approved and hopefully will be ready by October or November. My question is - everyone says that after surgery, you should do alot of walking to get rid of the gas. How much walking per day are we talking about? Cathrine Ray 0 Posted August 17, 2008 I was banded on 8-1-08 and I didn't have any gas.... I walked right after surgery no problem and no gas....I'm two weeks out and I feel like it never happened... Oh the 12 pounds gone is good.

hoosierpoms 0 Posted October 22, 2008 WALK, WALK AND WALK SOME MORE....take it easy...but let me tell you it helps to prevent gas pain in your shoulders..and it is well worth it. as far as fitness walking...I was able to get back to normal, pull the hill type walking by week 2.....I would tire allot easier...but???? Not sure if that was surgery, or my lack of proper exercise....:grouphug: good luck all of you....Traci
stevegoad 32 Posted October 22, 2008 Walk as much as you feel like it. On surgery day and the first day after, I pretty much stayed around the house, but walked in the house a whole lot. The second day after, I went to church and worked. After that, I was walking and acting normally. No one knew after that, so it was OK. But just walk as much as you feel like - it's not a how much exactly, but more of a just keep going.
MacMadame 81 Posted October 22, 2008 And sometimes walk more than you feel like. An aquaintance of mine died from a blood clot after her surgery. She didn't feel like walking, so she didn't. You have to MOVE YOUR BODY!! It doesn't have to be an official walk outside or in the gym on a treadmill. It can just be walking around the living room every 30 minutes or so. Just don't sit and lay around. My first official walk, I managed to go 2.5 blocks from my house before I had to turn around. But I did it anyway because I've had a blood clot before and they are not fun (assuming they don't kill you).
