myhouse77 0 Posted August 16, 2008 Yep--we're on! Am starting the "clear liquids" today. Went to the strore and bought Propel Water, Crystal Light, broth of every kind and sugar free/fat free popsicles. Am at 360 today....am 53 years old. Am concerned about losing hair and the flabby skin--but it will be better than dragging around the extra weight!
shoop3010 0 Posted August 16, 2008 Congratulations on your surgery date. I live in Round Rock, Tx and I'm 50 years old. I was banded on March 25th. My initial weight was 388 and I have not really started losing my hair. I think there are a lot of factors that make that happen. Just make sure you get your Protein and take your Vitamins daily. As far as flabby skin, I think that it is just something we're going to have. I have started Water areobics and hopefully that will help with some of the excess skin. But I'm with you, it will be better than carrying all this weight around. Good Luck, I'm sure you're going to like your band. I certainly do.

katweedy 0 Posted August 16, 2008 Take your Vitamins as suggested. You won't lose hair.< /p> Follow all the directions. Join a weekly support group and go to it. My friends who have had the surgery have had NO problems with Hair loss.< /p>
krtork 0 Posted August 16, 2008 Good luck with your banding! Most of the people I have talked to have not had a problem with hair loss. I think if you get your Protein you will do fine. With bypass I think it is more common because they lose weight so quickly and with the band the loss is more gradual. It seems like some loose skin is inevitable. I am really going to work on building muscle and trying to keep everything as firm as I can! Hope it works!
