dancing bear 0 Posted August 16, 2008 I did well throughout my hospital stay and am feeling better each day. I'm grateful I've had some help w/ my kid because I can't do much right now, and that needs to be honored!!!! Clear liquids were a bit difficult for me because I am vegetarian, so I made some miso broth, that was OK and Water for 2 days, on day 4 I started to drink warm milk, good quality organinc 1% and it feels very healing, also taking spirulina suppliments that have green protien. Feels good. I am looking forward to trying a creamy Soup, but not quite yet. I have had some emotional surges, but am feeling positive. Thanks for reading!
PrincessLuzalot 0 Posted August 16, 2008 Hello Dancing Bear: You sound like you are taking care of yourself and are keeping positive. Take all the help with the kids - no lifting at all! Soup will be the most glorious flavour ever! Buy some really good soup and enjoy! Kim
carcol54 0 Posted August 16, 2008 Congratulations. It sounds like you are finding ways to meet your needs. I was banded on the 14th, spent the night in the hospital. I have been surprised at how little pain I have had. Lemon pudding was the best thing I have had today. I always have trouble with the anethesic and when it is totally out of my system I will feel better. I have had a few moments today feeling as though I might be crazy be banded. Hope those are just fleeting thoughts as I heal. Carol
dwrd73 0 Posted August 17, 2008 FYI - GNC now has some soy Protein Shakes as well as the whey Protein. They have about 25 grams of soy protein per 8 oz. shake. Just thought I would let you know since you are a vegetarian. It may be a healthy option for you.
dwrd73 0 Posted August 17, 2008 I wanted to add that GNC also has an unflavored soy Protein Shake powder. I'm assuming it is similar to Unjury's. This way you can add some soy Protein to anything you make or drink. I haven't tried it yet but want to soon.
dancing bear 0 Posted August 17, 2008 Thanks for all the great tips and thoughtful support. I'm hanging in there, although I thought by now, 7 days post-op I'd be in less pain....I can't tell if it is gas or just soreness from the incisions, but it comes and goes and when it is here....owweee! I'm getting checked out by my regular doc in the morning to see that all is well and I can't wait for the babysitter to come over and pick all the little things up out of reach, not to mention get the kiddo out of my hair for a while...doing this as a single working parent feels a little overwhelming. I have some good friends and support that I really need but they tend to show when it is convienent for them and yesterday and this AM have been a little tough. All good things in all good time! I was banded on the 14th and am only allowed liquids the first week, then thicker liquids like blended Soups, V8, thicker Protein Drinks, and then the next 2 weeks I get mushies like mashed potatoes, etc. I think it's weird that docs require different things post-op. I was told that the band is to stretch slowly around the stomach and this is the reason for those stages. I sure wish I could have pudding right now. Man! I'm not really starving, but I sure could use some decent tasting food!
