Couch to 5K for August...who's in?

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

I am on Week 3 day 3 and I think I will do it another day or two. The first time I completed the 3 minute run I was so happy I could have cried! Who ever would have thought 10 months ago at over 300 pounds I would be tackling a running program. The weight loss has taken me to places I have only dreamed of being!

I am feeling nervous about week 4 when we run for 5 minutes.

How is everyone doing?

Take care and happy running!!

Hey guys!! I am on another C25K thread, and just wanted to pop in and encourage you guys!! AS LONG AS YOU ARE MOVING YOU ARE WINNING!!!! Don't worry about having to repeat a week. Just keep going!! I completed the c25K a few weeks ago and ran my first 5k today. I finished 4th in my division with a time of 29:20. Just a few short months ago I couldn't run a mile to save my life, so it can and does happen. You ladies keep after it.. Yall are doing a great job!!

Thanks Renewed!! I have been following the other thread and you ladies are amazing!! You have really inspired me!! Fantastic time on your run!!!!!!!!!

I bought a treadmill on the rent to own program and it gets delivered tomorrow!!! Now I don't have to wait or drag myself out on a cold rainy night, or wait in line to use the treadmill and have people keeping track of my time on it...I am a happy camper!

The 3 minute runs are getting a little easier. I did it again last night and it was day 4 of week 3. I think I will do it another 2 times and then move on to week 4.

I still haven't figured out what the best thing to eat is before a run. I usually have supper and then run 1-2 hours later. I eat mostly fish and veg or chicken and veg including sweet potato. Can you suggest what is best to eat prior to a program...

Thanks and keep up the amazing work!!!! :girl_hug:

Hi, all...I have been modifying the program somewhat. I'm between weeks 2 & 3. I walk one minute and run 2. I think I'm ready for week #3, I'm just a little nervous to try it.

But, I am doing it, and I go at least a mile each time. I never would have thought I could do this!!

Hi Georgia,

Wow great job on the weight loss!!!!!! I have been following the other thread and you ladies sure are inspiring!! I am realy struggling with week 3. I can do the first 3 minutes fine but the last 3 minutes I really have to push hard to get through it. I am worried about the 5 minute run on week 4. Any helpful hints or suggestions that helped you to get through the tough spots??

Happy running everyone!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
