so my surgery date was mon the 11th and today is the fist day i don't feel bad! :) thank god!!! almost no pain... just some soreness and i can deal with that. Still keeping down all my liquids with not one instance of vomitting !

and for anyone who didn't read my post right after surgery here it is. just so everyone can know what they might feel like after surgery:

well i had my surgery on aug 11th and here i am. i did it! but let me tell you my experience because all i read about in this site was how painless and drug free this postop time is. now don't get me wrong i don't regret my getting the band at all. :wub:for some reason i just remember reading about how some people only needed their pain meds once. Not me! When i first woke up was the worst part of it. I wasin pain and i could hardly move and yet they were asking me to roll around for an x-ray! :mad2:the sholder pain is the worst. i think i remember people saying it's b/c of the port but whatever the reason my left side hurts and makes it hard for me to breathe. eek.gif now as long as i take my pain meds i can knock out and just sleep through the pain. Now i hope not to scare anyone and again i don't regret it. just telling it like it is. :cool2: on a better note i have been drinking Water and beef broth with no probs of nausea. juat a little nausea due to the anesthesia first day post op.

again i hope i don't scare anyone:blushing: but maybe for those who are thinking they might be back to normal 2 days out.... well just don't plan on it because we are all different.

Yay for feeling better. The first week or so is the worst but it gets better everyday and makes you glad that you did this. For me, the unbelieveable energy I've gotten back since being banded has be wonderful.

Everyone has a different pain threshhold, and experiences pain differently! Your situation shouldn't scare anyone off.

Zukagirl - I had the surgery on the same day. I had to take a lot of pain meds, too. I feel better each day, but for some reason THE GAS is back today. I'm having trouble just drinking liquids today. I think part of my extra pain is from an additional hernia repair. Not sure. Hang in.

Hey there..I had surgery on the 12th...And the pain in the shoulder was AWFUL...Dr. Trahan explained it was from the gas and that the pain/pressure should reside with walking (walking helps get the gas off)..I still have a twinge of pain in my shoulder here and there...I had a hiatal hernia repair also and Im not sure but I think that is where most of my pain is coming from...My stomache is sore but it hurts my chest to take deep breathes and to belch feels horrible...I am still taking my pain meds also...Not on a constant basis but about mid day It takes the edge off..

....Everyones threshold for pain is different and if you need it to be comfortable then by all means honey use it....comfort is key to healing...

Hi, I was banded 8/7/0/8 and am still movin slow, I did to much yeasterday and it set me back, Oh well I was feelin so good I ran around and now I am in some pain again. Im 50 so maybe its slower for me. I thought I would be up in three days and running around its a little slower than I thought. Im lucky I can eat or drink anything on the list with no problem. I still have gas and shoulder pain but it is getting better. Hope you feel better soon, I have lost 9 pounds already so that is great.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
