Unknown Fill Amount

Recommended Posts

I went and had my first fill yesterday from Dr. Woodman in Memphis. When I asked him how much he put in, he just smiled and said that he put in enough. I asked his nurse and she told me that he does not tell any of this patients how much fill he puts in.

Has anyone else had this experience?

My doctor would not tell me either. He said that we don't need to focus on that the number didn't really matter.

Not sure why it's such a big deal... ????

My Dr. told me how much he put in but would not tell me how much my band would hold. He just said it will never be completely full.

I think you are right. I have full confidence in my Dr. so I will leave all of that to him.

my Dr. does'nt tell either. He say's it's because we all loose differently and we might compare how much I have verses so&so and why I am not loosing the same as them. Which I can actually see his point. It is kinda like people who say well I was banded when you were and I have the same size band, but how come you lost 40lbs when I have only lost 15.

My Dr. always tells me exactly what he is doing and how many cc's he is putting in. I now have 3.1 cc's in a 4 cc band. My fills are very small due to having the small band. The last one was only .2 cc's. I am pretty tight and will not need a fill for quite some time. I do not understand what the secret is and why your Dr. is being so closed mouthed. I like to understand every aspect of my band and how it works. It is your body and your money, so if you really want to know insist the Dr. tell you. I am not fixated on my numbers, but still want to be informed. Good luck.

I know how much is in mine but I don't think it matters. I will need a different amount to have good restriction than someone else so what does it matter how much is in there. It just matters how it feels and works. Don't worry about it.

That's surprising. My physician gave me a card which specifically lists the make of my band, the max amount of cc's it holds and his contact numbers so if I were to ever have problems while traveling, another Dr. would know what there and how to get ahold of my surgeon. It is the size of a credit card and I carry it in my wallet. He is also specific about how much is in the band before the fill, how much he adds, etc. As a patient, I would be upset if he didn't tell me. After all, it is my band and my body.

To me, it is not a big deal. As long as He knows, that is what is important.

My knowing how big my band is, would serve no purpose, I am just not curious about it. He did tell me how much the fill was. Sometimes I think I am just too trusting, but that is my nature. I always know things will work out.

The volume in your band doesn't matter...it's all about the flow! Don't get hung up on a number. Just like everything else, comparing band volume with others just isn't realistic, since everyone's band and stomach is different.

I agree we are all different and the volume may not matter, but we have a right to know what's in our bodies, especially what type of band and how many cc's it will hold in case another doctor has to start providing us follow up care for whatever reason. I think it is an absolute right of the patient and I'm pretty sure there must be some sort of disclosure laws that require the doctors to tell you if you ask.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
