noosagirl 0 Posted August 15, 2008 I am getting banded at the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, India on 3rd September and was just wondering if anyone else has been banded there? If so can you give me some advice or just tell me how your experience was. As the days draw closer I am starting to get nervous. Cheers
Mrs J.J 2 Posted August 15, 2008 Can I ask why you chose to go to India? Also where are you from? I don´t know anything about having the band done there, so that is why I am curious.

WASaBubbleButt 41 Posted August 15, 2008 India huh why would u go there>??? Please be careful sometimes going to foreign countries isnt always good , cheaper maybe!take care !! Sometimes having surgery in the US isn't always good, but it's sure to be expensive. ;o) There are very good doctors in every country. I think one advantage to leaving the country for surgery is that people tend to do a little more research on their doctor when he's outside of the country. In the US *IF* people do any research at all it is typically a matter of asking a few people if they "liked" their doctor. That's their research. Many assume they are safe if they have surgery in the US and that simply isn't true. We have our share of really horrific doctors that no medical board seems to act on. One great place to start researching a physician in ANY country is here: Welcome to the American College of Surgeons
austex 0 Posted August 15, 2008 I dont knock going out to the country of Indian doctors hell I work for one and to be honest he is one hell of a doctor I can say that much, thanks for the web site to check on the doctors. There are bad docs in all countries, we all have to do research on them is all.
noosagirl 0 Posted August 15, 2008 (edited) I am from Australia. I am going through Healthbase and Dr Arun Prasad in New Delhi India is doing my lap band. He was not the cheapest however I feel he is one of the best abroad. He did a lot of his training in UK, he has excellent qualifications. PS Thank you WASaBubbleButt your info is very helpful, feel free to give me more, you know what your talking about. electricbear606 0 Posted September 13, 2008 HI, I am also going to have mine done in India, I have been working with healthbasee also, and India seems to be the cheapest in the Pacific rim area where I am located. I am also a self-pay, and cost has to do with it too. Please let me know how it went since Health Base will probably refer me to the same doc. I have another place I emailed that was about 500.00 dollars cheaper than health base. If you would like to see it, send me an IM with your email address and I will forward it to you. Again, Good Luck in India. Robb. P.S. what hospital are you going too?
noosagirl 0 Posted September 14, 2008 I was banded 3rd september Apollo Hospital Delhi and I was very impressed with quality of care I received. My surgeon was excellent and his name is Arun Prasad his email is surgerytimes@gmail.com Healthbase are great to go through cause they can organize everything for you and they are reliable, although I did organise my own accomodation, I stayed at www.delhibedandbreakfast.com I don't know if they made a mistake but I only ended up paying US$5700 for op and that included tests and two nights stay in hospital, but I was quoted US$6700. Good luck! If you have anymore questions, ask away.
