Weighing in too often!

Recommended Posts

:D Ok, I am less than a week post op. I keep weighing myself, at least twice a day. Isnt this a bad habit? I think it would be so much more rewarding if I weighed in every Tuesday. Guess it was a bad idea to get my new scale. I cant help it though, the numbers are dropping so quickly and when I wake up in the morning, I cant help but wanna see! Ugh!:)

There is a weekly scale challenge thread here on LBT for all of us who are obsessed with the scale, I challenged everyone who was interested to only get on thescale once a week. It has been very successful for me..you should join us :) Do a seach for Weekly Scale Challenge and come on in

I was that way in the beginning, but for me, it wasn't that big of a deal cause the scale was moving! The real problem became when I wasn't losing a pound in a day. I 1) started to get mad at myself although I had done NOTHING wrong. and 2) if I had lost, started to justify having treats more.

Finally, yesterday, I loaned my sister my scale. I'll get it back someday, but for now, it's at her house.

I've decided that I don't want the scales to rule my emotions so the only time I weigh in, is at my surgeon's office every couple of months.

I can tell by my clothes how well, or otherwise, I am doing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
