Hello from Mile High!!

My name is Chipper and I just got banded today. Thought I would drop in and tell everyone Howdy!!

Things are doing OK except I have terrible gas pain in my left shoulder and can't seem to shake it, has anyone else ever had this and how did you get rid of it.

Also you can lay your back flat on the floor, and elevate your legs on a couple pillows. This will work to move the gas bubbles from your shoulder.

Also, try a heating pad on your shoulder.

I went through lots of gas-x strips and used a heating pad over my abdomen. Lots of walking helps as well, as mentioned previously.

Best wishes,

Stephanie

Hi, I'm a novice on this site and an Aussie, not sure how things work but here goes. I had my lapband on the 9th June 2008 (2nd time) and have also suffered from really bad gas. The pain in the abdomen is really cruel and there is no hiding it when it decides to errupt. Sooo embarrasing. If I try to force the gas up I end up vomiting. Does this get any better? I've lost 17 kilos, not sure what that is in pounds.

Katydid.

Hi Bluezbandit,

Thank you for your welcome. I've not joined any chat sites before so don't really know what to do. Good luck for your banding. So far I've dropped from tops sized 22-24 down to a size 18 and the pants from a size 18 down to a size 14 (with elastic waists). Weight from 110.8 kilos

down to 92 kilos. Still a lot to lose but that's not bad for 2 months. I find the main discomfort is the wind/gas that gets caught in the chest like really bad indigestion and the reflux is not too good either. Will be checking with my surgeon on Tuesday about this. I wasn't warned about these nasties. Still, I guess it is early days yet.:)

Hi! My name is Trina and I had my band done on June 5, 2008. I have been heavily blessed since I was itty bitty, so to speak. I am single mom of 3 beautiful girls ages 3,5, and 11. I have been a critical care nurse for 6 years and counting. I decided to do the band because I am tired of being big and I want to be able to sit and cross my legs all sexy and stuff!(lol) This has been a learning experience and I know will continue to be a learning experience. I really do look forward to meeting new people and hearing about their personal journeys and hopefully I can encourage someone else through my experience. Well, hold on tight, this might be a bumpy ride! :lol:Post me please.:)

Thanks to everybody for the responses. I have found that laying on my left side has helped the most. I am still having a lot of pain in the shoulder, so I just go lay down for about 15 min.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
