Restriction but still very hungry...??

Recommended Posts

Well guys, please help me with this one. I have really good restriction finally after 4 fills & losing only 12 lbs since May 8. The problem is that I can barely eat anything without getting stuck unless I'm super careful. It takes so much time & effort to chew that well that I usually stop after a few bites if I don't get stuck, which is usually the case.

I know I need to chew & slow down but even if I follow all the rules I'm hungry again in a short amount of time. I'm getting Protein in the form of liquid to make sure I'm getting enough but I'm not being satisfied at all.

Any suggestions??????

liquids will not keep you full too long. You must eat. Have you tried tuna salad or chicken salad with not too much Mayonnaise? More experienced

bandisters may have better suggestion for you. You can also search here under the food threads for some great ideas. Good luck!

How about getting a little unfill and be more careful about what you eat.

I just went today for a little tiny fill....but my doctor said I should not push it because I have been losing weight.

I can eat what I want and having only have only got one thing stuck and that was a CUPCAKE that I never even chewed because I didn't feel good that day and walked in from work and tried to swallow it before I put my car keys down.

I use www.thedailyplate.com every day and it really opens your eyes to the food you put in your mouth. I still eat junk from time to time and I can eat more than just 4 ozs. I can eat anything and everything.......I don't think I would like it if I could not eat.

I did get that little tiny fill just because I had my mind set on it....HOPE I DIDN'T SCREW UP A GOOD THING!

Good Luck to you!

Avoid the liquid calories and Protein. It will sabotage all your efforts. Eat REAL protein. You will stay satisfied MUCH longer. CHEW CHEW CHEW.... You have no choice but to be "super careful". Cut your meat into pieces about the size of a new pencil eraser. I know, I know, that sounds awfully small..... just try it. then chew at LEAST 30 times depending on the density of the protein. then eat your veggies. Good luck and keep your chin up!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I agree that you may be too tight. If the only protien you can keep down is liquid, you probly have a problem. I would try a very slight unfill and get more solid protien!

I had the same issue. I bought power plus Protein Bars with 30 grams of Protein. Take little bites. I got them down no problem. Plus they are good for you. After I lost another 11 pounds my food doesn't stick as much. Plus i'm getting more used to the band. It's taken me the whole 6 months to learn how to eat different. good luck, chrissie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
