I need a less expensive surgeon in KY

Recommended Posts

After yanking me around for almost a year, my insurance is balking at paying for my surgery.

The surgeon I've been consulting with charges $17,600 for the surgery itself (hospital stay, anesthesia, band and supplies, etc) then he charges $300 for every fill.

Does someone know - Is there a less expensive surgeon in Kentucky?

I think it would be cheaper if I found someone who even does it outpatient as opposed to an overnight stay.

HELP!~ I'm at my wit's end!

I don't have specific answers to your question, but thought I would comment. I am going to a Dr in St. Louis and his self pay charges are $15550 for inpatient which included fills for lifetime OR $14550 for outpatient, without lifetime fills, but could add $1000 for lifetime fills, so the same price for inpatient vs outpatient with the lifetime fills. Where are you in KY? Good luck!!

Amy

I had surgery in Juarez, Mexico through beliteweight.com. At first I was not sure of having surgery out of the USA. I did a lot of research and found out a lot of people go there and had a good experience. So I decided to go for it. I had a great time. The hospital was very nice, it's a new hospital and the staff were great. You should visit beliteweight.com they'll tell you all about it. My surgery cost was $7000.00

I live in Illinois but go to Dr. Alex Argotte in Paducah, KY (Lourdes Weight Loss Center). Insurance covered me, and I'm not sure what his rate is for self-pay, but he is very good. You might check into it.

Hi,

I live in KY and there is a surgeon here in the Louisville area who is doing the lap band for $12500, including everything--hospital, surgeon, anesthesiologist, and nutritional eval. The surgeon gives you a year's worth of fills free. I can give you the information if you want it and if you email me.

I think this is the one you are looking for Right Weigh Bariatric Center, Lap Band and Gastric Bypass Surgery

This is the same surgeon I'm using but I'm going a different route via insurance. He's a bit frank but highly rated. His staff is great well the one's I've talked to. Good Luck!

Thankyou , I found Dr. Shina. I don't think my insurance will cover the lapband. I have pipefitters local 502 humana bluecross blue shield. Anyway, I don't have another year of my life to wait for a decision for the surgery so I am going in debt, It just may save my life.

Dr. Geller in Louisville is $12,000 even including preop nutrition and psych evals and a year of band adjustments. The only thing not covered is any pre-op evals for medical clearance, but that is done by your regular doctor and is usually covered by insurance even if surgery is not.

He is the lowest price for many states. A short trip can save a bundle.

His number is (502)893-7151. Website is Bariatric Surgery in Louisville, Kentucky.

Good luck,

Holly

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
