  1. 1. Have you had a problem with no or slow weight loss?

    • Yes, it's been a struggle.
    • Yes, but wih a little work or a fill I got on track.
    • No, it's been pretty steady
    • NO! It's been really easy.

I'm banded (2 weeks ago lol) and I've read a lot of people in their early 30's to 40's complaining about having problems losing the weight or just having reallly slow weightloss. I was just wondering if any of you young people have had a pretty easy time? I'm willing to work out and eat right but I'm just hoping that that is enough and I won't be let down by this.

Also I'm really hoping to drop ALL of my weight not just 40% like my doctor told me I would...

I've been banded for almost 8 months now & I've lost 90lb. & to be honest, I haven't worked out for a minute. My job keeps me on my feet from 8 in the morning to 6 at night. I think being younger helps with the weightloss & with the saggy skin. I did get cursed with lots of baggy skin, but I can't even imagine what it'd be like if I was older.

I was banded a week before I turned 20. The first year I lost about 60 lbs but 6 months into my second year and I have yet to lose a lb. Granted I did lose the 60lbs without changing my diet or exercise. So maybe if I get my butt into gear I can get those last 40 off. I have no sagging skins and no loss in breast volume, unlike some of the older women.

i know you are going to look at my age and say why is this 52 year old bag answering this question. its because i have been losing and gaining weight since i was 17. yes, the weight does come off quicker and easier when you are young, and your skin goes back much better. take full advantage of this surgery, you will succeed as long as you put effort into it.

All I know is that I'm only 21 but my weight loss is going to be slow, I'm on medication that makes me over eat (although haven't reacted to it lately) and I was told it will slow the weightloss which blows, but I hope to prove the docs wrong =)

I'm 20 and I'm really banking on my age helping me to lose faster than some of the older people who get banded. As far as saggy skin goes my surgeon told me that since I'm so young as long as I exercise like I'm supposed to that won't be a problem AT ALL.

Also a HUGE plus of getting it done around our ages is that you have a much lower risk of complications according to Dr. Rosen :grouphug:

I think starting healthier lifes younger will only lead to positive affects! ou see it so much on here where people say I wish I could have done this when I was younger, if only the oppertunity was there. We have the advantage of not having to say that. I am so glad there is such a supportive group of people on here, at any age! Keep up the good work all!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
