blackcherry2002 5 Posted August 13, 2008 Ok so I explained my lack of weight loss to my brother and my mother and both were amazed that my scale hasn't moved in 2 weeks. I have been struggling to just get in 500 calories because I'm just never hungry... Anyway is it possible I might just be retaining a lot of Fluid? I'm usually a verrrrrry fast loser...I just always put the weight back on. And my mother has had bariatric surgery and is aware of how things go. I don't drink a lot either...probably not good at all but I'm just never really thirsty either. Also when my mom had surgery...she had congestive heart failure and she ended up finding out (after entering the hospital and being put on lasiks) that she had retained almost 80 lbs worth of water...most of the nurses and doctors were baffled but...my mom's a medical freak of nature so lol
Nanook 2 Posted August 13, 2008 I don't know much about dehydration and the lapband if you can get down Water and you seemed concerned about retaining it. I've never had that problem but seems like something you should call you surgeon about and discuss. I just spent an ER night and 3 in-patient days with my RNY daughter for dehydration and she couldn't get any Water down for a while and it's not a good thing but she was closed up with a stricture and they had to open it up. I'm a lap bander and have been too tight where I couldn't get my own saliva down and had to get an emergency removal of saline but never got to the point of dehydration. So in my opinion it's best to call the doctor as you know your own body and your family history and instinctively you seem to think there is an issue and it's better to be safe than sorry. Just make sure you get all your points across so they don't blow you off! take care and wish you well Nancy.:Banane37:

I am not losing either but I am very dehydrated according to my regular dr. she said I have to drink at "LEAST"64 oz a day... and on top of that I can't use a freaking straw :Banane37:
blackcherry2002 5 Posted August 13, 2008 i can get Water down, and everything else just fine. But I'm just not thirsty, I've never been one to drink a lot, whether it be pop, coffee or water....though I dont drink pop or coffee...don't like caffiene lol. I'm just wondering if this could be an explanation for my lack of weightloss. I'm drinking maybe one to two glasses of water...so like...32 oz maximum... Momto5 0 Posted August 13, 2008 Definitely not enough Water. Not enough calories either. If your body thinks it is starving, it will hold on to weight. I'd call your doc. and ask about it....
tcbeau 0 Posted August 13, 2008 I agree, way too little calories, the body goes into starvation mode and holds on to every one.
GayleTX 1 Posted August 13, 2008 Too few calories, too little water.....waaaay too little water! Dehydration is dangerous (as I spent the last 2 weeks telling my friend - who just yesterday got weak and fell and broke both feet and is in the hospital with dehydration, by the way....'told ya so'!) The Water helps the kidneys flush the fat out of your system.....you've got to have it. 64 ounces is the MINIMUM....more is better!
Laurinda 1 Posted August 14, 2008 I agree you need to eat more AND drink more.
