May have to push my date back.

Recommended Posts

Today the doc's office called me with some last minute details. One of them was a 400.00 fee that has to be paid four days before my procedure.:):) And I am waiting to hear from the hospital to make sure all of my costs are covered. There is no way I will be able to add in 400.00 to my budget for this month. I did not plan for this and now I may have to push the date back. I have an appointment with the surgeon friday and I guess I will see what happens then.

sorry to hear that you may need to push back your date. I would also like to know what the fee is for as well. I went to one dr in dallas and he tried to hit me with a fee for a nutrition class....it was 300 bucks. I was a little put off by this. I know that something will work out for you..stay positive and it will happen...

Same thing happen to me the week before my surgery. They said that I didn't meet my out of pocket max. so i needed to pay $2550 the day of surgery!!! I was so pissed! So we borrowed the money out of our wedding money to pay for it so I wouldn't have to change my date so please ladies double check!

The "fee" is for the assistance of his nurse to assist him in the procedure.:D I am a bit put off by this and I am going to just change my date. I have my appointment on Friday and will change it then. With five kids and school starting on the 25th I just can not tweek my budget and I do not want to have to borrow from my savings when i can wait a few weeks.

Sorry to hear that your date is being pushed. I was told in advance that I would have to pay the Surgeons office $350 and make my Insurance Co-payment of $250 plus pay 10% of the first $10,000 ($1,000 max) of the surgery fee. So this six month waiting period gave me the chance to save up my money.) I'm sure things will work out...

The same thing happened to me, but they told me this on the day i got approved. Since I didn't meet my out of pocket, they said that i had to pay the doctor $700, the hospital $2400, and about $190 for the anesthesiologist. The 700 for the doctor, I had to pay on my appointment that I had the Friday before my sugery. the hospital wanted a downpayment the day of surgery and they would bill the rest along with the fee for the anesthesiologist. Everything is really expensive, I told myself that I will be living like a college student again for awhile. One good thing is right now i can't eat that much so i dont have to spend that much money on food.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
