amanda45414 0 Posted August 11, 2008 What all are they doing for your pre op testing??? How soon before your sugery are you getting it done? Do you have to attend a support group?
Momto5 0 Posted August 11, 2008 I had no pre-op testing. My BMI was just under 40 and my surgeon didn't require any for under 40. I also didn't need the heprin shot for clotting for the same reason.
Lanakila 1 Posted August 11, 2008 My surgeon required me to attend the informational seminar before I could get an appointment with him. Once he agreed to do the surgery, he required: Chest x-ray Standard Bloodwork 5 year weight history (my ins required) Nutritionist Consult Psychiatry Consult EKG (I have really high, poorly controlled blood pressure) I don't see him again until 6 days before sx, and up until now he has not prescribed a pre-op diet. dwrd73 0 Posted August 11, 2008 My doctor required the same as Lanakila except I did not have to turn in a 5 year weight history. My insurance did not required it. Since I have a cardiologist my doctor wanted a cardiac clearance for surgery as well. It was basically a paper from stating my risk level for surgery.
