NSV the first day back at work

Recommended Posts

Today is my first day back at work since being banded on 8/01. I never realized all the pushing and pulling I did (I just have a desk job) so my port area is a little sore. BUT....I put on my nice pants this morning and the hardly fit me. I mean I have to make sure they are not going to fall as I walked down the hall. I can feel the sliding down. Holy Crap that was fast. I am going to have to get them altered pronto because I am not ready to be new clothes just yet. But what a NSV (non - scale victory):)

My co-workers noticed that I was tugging on my pants. It is obvious they do not fit me anymore. It feels good to have pants that are too big rather then too small.

Hehe so long as there are no :D moments

Would a belt annoy the port sites??

I can understand the not wanting to waste too much money on clothes that might not fit for long!!

Cool! I will be banded on 8/22 and I need to work on 8/25 (First day of the Monday classes I teach) so this gives me encouragement.

I'm so glad to hear of your success! Dr. Enochs did my band on 8/8 and I go back to work on Thursday...hopefully it won't be too bad. I can't wait for my NSVs to begin!

WTG Claudine! I go back to work on Monday and haven't tried my work pants on yet, but am looking forward to it! Lol! No belt loops for me either, so it will be interesting.

I wore my work skirt to work just before my op (when I'd lost about 4kgs) and as I walked it was twisting round without me being aware. It wasn't until I was just about to stand up to do a presentation that I realised my back seam and split was in the front! LOL! It'll be interesting now I've lost double that amount of weight.

Lets resurrect an old fashion statement: suspenders!

I think I still have my Mork and Mindy Rainbow suspenders somewhere. *wink*

I recently have looked for a surgeon to do my surgery. I work at REX and I've heard good things from the nurses. From what I hear Dr. Moran is not very personable. Dr. Enochs is much more then Dr. Moran. The OR manager I work with is going to do some investigating and find out more information.

Previously, I was looking into Dr. Kenneth Mitchell Jr. in Pinehurst. However I learned that his mortality rate is 4% and that kind of freaks me out.

I plan on attending the seminar next month.

Anyone who has any thoughts specifially on Dr. Enochs, let me know!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
