I know some doctors were saying no to milk and milk products! (and I know Sandy would say no!)

BUT I HAVE TO SAY I can't live without mine!!!!! I can stop and get a chug if we are out (they sell skim and 2% now) so every one can get food at McD's and I can get a milk and wait till I get home.

I always get my 3-4 servings without the challenge- mine might be to not get more!!!

Just don't take your Calcium pills with in an 2 hour windo w of eating or a milk product- you can only absorb so much at a time! and it will be a waste of $$$$

GOOD LUCK & Got milk!!

Count me in girls! I just went to a Project Fresh class 2 nights ago and got a Calcium brochure. I was shocked to learn how easy it would be for me to add in somemore Calcium in my diet each day. (I'm probably in dire need of it!)

I was also in shock to read this on the brochure:

Too much salt (sodium) and Protein can spell trouble for bones, too. Both cause calcium loss, which is a problem when your diet is low in calcium. Caffeine also causes a small amount of calcium loss. (Salt, Protein, and caffeine are only a problem when calcium intakes are very low, another great reason to get enough calcium everyday!)

So that settles it for me ladies! I'm totally there! We go shopping tomorrow, and I will be sure to pick up some yogurt, ice cream, cheese, sour cream (great for making snack dip out of), and baked Beans (beans have 150mg of calcium in a 1 cup serving!).

I will post the list on this brochure here too, and that may help everyone figure out which products pack the most punch. Good luck everyone!!!!

Am I the only one that can eat salted sour cream right out of the container? Not that I do, but ohhhhh, I could! Mouth watering now.

When I was a kid, my sisters would tell me sour cream was ice cream. I'd eat the whole container.

I'm so sick of cottage cheese.< /p>

No matter what way you look at milk, it's the one food that's been around since the beginning of time. Okay, maybe amoebas don't have nipples but you get my drift. The fact that anyone would say milk is bad is just silly. It's got staying power. It's convenient, affordable, healthy, yummy (when chocolate falls in it) and it's even cute.

Nothing is really "good" for us if you pick it apart enough. Chemicals in Water, bacteria in the air. I say drink up. This whole dairy thing is popping up all over the place. It's finally one "diet" trick I can live with. Say yes to dairy! Woo hoo.

I hate the whole "soy milk" craze as well as the whole "holistic" craze. Screw soy and chamomile tea. Give me a Xanax and a cocktail.

I missed this when it first started, but I'm game. I've been making smoothies with vanilla yogurt in them already, and I try and have milk with/for Breakfast. I'm snacking on some cherry yogurt now. I didn't get any cottage cheese at the store this time, but I've been having a good amount of that too.

I'm not into the soy or rice milks. I've been considering the Carb Countdown or whatever it's called, but usually I'm with 1% (yucky skim).

It's Saturday morning. Part of my problem is I'm a caffeine addict, which makes me nervous, which makes me eat. So why not quit caffeine? Cause I have been trying for 30 years, and I'm a mental case.

I'm not giving up coffee, just cutting back to 1/2 cup mixed with 16 oz milk, cinammon, and sprinkle of fake sweetener. I finished off the 2% and restocked fridge last night with 1%.

I yelled out for help, and one girlfriend rushed here to rescue me and even spent the night. She calls me several times a day, and today is the day we'll sit down and talk for real. No excuses since I managed to grocery shop last night, and somehow healthy food fell in the cart. Lots of fruit & dried fruit. Chris won't know what hit him because I even passed up the meat section and only got chicken and fish. If I'm goint to maintain any sort of weight loss, I can't do it with a drawer full of crap in the house.

I planned on buying 1/2 gallon ice cream as my last binge last night, but I heard all these supportive voices and bought a contaniner of pudding instead. Sure, that's fattening and not the best choice, but I would have eaten all the ice cream, while I only had a cup of the pudding. Big, deep sigh. Baby steps.

I'm going to the site to log in my milk now. Wish me luck in sticking with the plan for just one day. One day, one night.

How did everyone do this weekend? I think I only had 2 servings yesterday (and one of those was my mom's cheesecake).

Yogurt already for Breakfast this morning, probably some more later as well.

This is long and boring so nobody has to read it but I have to write it for my own therapy.

I've had TWO good days! And I couldn't do it without all you guys, that's for sure.

I learned a valuable lesson that we've all heard over and over again regarding sugar crashes and carb highs 'n lows. I told you that I started this Coke (a Cola) habit a couple months ago? Addictions are tricky cause I never drank the crap pre-bad but became quickly hooked recently.

Not having a Coke in the morning was really hard the other day. Somehow I managed to get through the whole day without one. I was my own living science experiment as I quickly recognized that one Coke isn't doable if you have it in the morn. As soon as you crash, you have to drink another. Not an option, the body craves it. I'd have one in the morn and would fight the noon craving, but there was no way to fight the 3:00 p.m. craving.

The day I gave up Coke (couple days ago) was the day I was able to avoid binge eating at night, and to have fruit instead of crap. I said in another post that I'd never have Splenda, but I realize I need something sweet and am taking the risk of eating poison since I don't have Splenda crashes. I bougth 1/2 gallon sugar free lowfat ice cream, and that's what I have at night before bed, otherwise I go insane wanting something worse. The crazy thing about SF ice cream is that one bowl satisfies me, whereas I'd need the whole carton of regular.

Point is - Sugar is more powerful than Cocaine when it comes to addictions; in my book anyway.

I've been doing the dairy thing, too. Karen H (band removed due to erosion and looking fabulous and tiny) drinks latte every day, so that's what I do now. 1% milk mixed with some strong coffee, I add cinammon and a pinch of fake sugar. I eat a yogurt when I get to work, then a fruit based lunch. dinner is whatever hubby is having, back to a small bowl or plate. Fruit at 7pm, then SF ice cream later.

I noticed that fruit and yogurt for lunch doesn't fill me up, so that's probably not a smart choice for me since I'm hungry too fast. Today I brought some cheese and chicken salad with flat crackers and a bunch of grapes.

I was up 9 pounds. Now I'm up only 4 pounds. This morning I felt like eating and almost gave in to it, but I keep having to tell myself that "this is the way I eat for life." I can't go back or I'll hate living.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
