Tea goes down fine-cold water doesn't

Recommended Posts

I always preferred cold beverages but now that I am tight-hot drinks go down easy-but Water I have to sip ever so slightly...

Especially in the Morning...

I was filled a week ago and was wondering if this is how it is for 'sweet spotters' or just post fill tightness...

I have found that warm beverages tend to open up my band a little bit so that i am able to eat a bit more. I am super tight in the mornings and usually if I drink a cup of cofee, I can eat pretty good at lunch. I still find that I have to sip any cold beverage, especially in the morning time. This has happened to me since being banded throughout all of my fills. As you lose more weight the band will become lose again and the restriction won't be as tight as it is now. I havent had a fill since May and am still pretty tight so I am hoping that I have reached my sweet spot! Give it a few weeks and you will be able to tell. Good Luck!

Ever since I have had my band, I have not been able to drink cold beverages. Everything has to be room temperature or it does not go down well for me. I have found this to be true for me regardless of what level of restriction I am it. Of course, it varies for everyone. Our bands are fickle creatures.

Do you think it is because we take bigger drinks of the cold stuff and sip on the hot stuff. I know sometimes when I am really thirsty it is hard for me not to take big gulps of ice H2O!

Hmmm - I can't say I have this particular issue. I drink ice Water all day at work, and I'm not a 'sipper'...although I try to be.

The only exception: in the morning I am more restricted so that I start the day with a cup of hot coffee. After that, I am drinking ice Water all day.

Strange isn't it, how different we all are?

Cold drinks in the morning kill me. It sometimes can be equivalent to a "stuck" feeling. Room temp Water always does MUCH better! Sometimes as the day goes on I can drink it cold but I tend to stick to room temp myself

I always drink my Water room temperature during the day. I can't do iced beverages until the evening. Tea is always soothing and feels good. The warmth is just like putting a heating pad on a sore muscle. It relaxes the muscle. Where swimming in cold water will give you cramps. It's the same principle I think.

Not me, I am completely opposite. I can eat better if I have a glass of ice Water before eating. I can have tea (which I have always been a tea drinker) but I cant have it until later in the day...I cant really have anything when I first get up though. It is crazy how we differ so much with the same operation. Weird.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
