Important information on Splenda

Recommended Posts

That's why I use Stevia. The brand I like is "Stevia Plus" by Sweet Leaf. It contains insulin Fiber (we can always use fiber!) and Stevia Leaf extract. Available @ health food stores. Web-site is www.sweetleaf.com I use 1/2 packet or 1/8 to 1/4 tsp. (it comes in packets that I use @ work & keep in my purse, and a plastic bottle for home.) There are other threads on stevia on this site.

Betty, Im going to copy this link and send it to my sister & cousin - BIG splenda drinkers.

Sucralose may be more like ingesting tiny amounts of chlorinated pesticides, but we will never know without long-term, independent human research

Thats scary! I remember reading something on the same line about diet drinks.

Going back to what DeLarla/Lisa has said many times - real suger is safer then all this fake stuff!

Thanks for sharing!

Not for everyone. Sugar can kill a diabetic a lot faster than Sweet-n-Low, Equal, or Splenda.

And for every article like this that rips up one of the sweetners, there's another praising it and debunking everything the bad article says. Then another one comes around debunking everything the good article says.

Then doctors will tell you that eggs are bad for you. Then they'll say they're actually good for you.

Then they'll say that Sweet-n-Low will give you cancer and Equal will give you brain damage and Splenda can cause anal leakage (I'm not making that up), and later they'll say that you'd have to drink 20 cans a day of soda for 20 years to make any of that actually happen.

I swear it's something different every week.

Always consider the source when you read an article like this. I'm totally for educating yourself and finding out as much you can about the things you consume. But it wasn't exactly Newsweek or the New York Times reporting that... and if everything in that article were true and undisputed, don't you think Newsweek or the NY Times would have had something to say about it by now?

Just my opinions.... I totally respect all of yours, and am not trying to say this article is wrong or anyone is wrong for being scared of Splenda after reading it =)

All I can say is that I was recently diagnosed with Sarcoidosis, an autoimmune disease that the American Lung Association recognizes as a lung disease. Nobody in my family has any type of auto immune issues. After a lot of research, I came across a report that links it to NutraSweet.

Not only that, but I was so addicted to the stuff that I couldn't get out of bed without a stiff Diet Pepsi. I eventually switched to one can of regular Pepsi or Coke a day, and I just GOTTA have that soda. But now it's only one small can per day, while I had to have several buckets of the fake stuff before. Now I sleep at night. No more weird dreams, no insomnia. And I have a cup of real coffee, too, whereas before I'd have Decaf with Equal.

This isn't based on what anyone said, just my own personal observations.

Hey, all. I just felt I HAD to reply to this. I am a former employee of the only Splenda plant in the United States and a former resident of the town where it is made. I have read all the articles on Splenda, those for AND against. I think everyone has to take their own personal stand on what they will and won't put into their bodies, but I have got to tell you that Splenda is absolutely without a doubt safe and is a God-send for many diabetics.

I know what goes into this product, and although I can't tell you, I will tell you that these people believe in this product and produce it to the highest degree of quality. You can not imagine the amount of time, study and love that goes into this product. Now it's true, not everyone reacts to things the same way, heck, I'm allergic to green Beans and they cause a HORRIBLE reaction in me, but that doesn't mean that the next person should stay away from them. There are people that have bad reactions to Splenda, just as there are people that have bad reactions to dairy products or Peanut Butter... but Splenda is in no way shap or form a danger to all who consume it.

What we've all got to remember is that when articles like this are published, and even articles that advocate a product, there is usually a lot more behind it than hands down research results. You would not believe the huge war that goes on between these sugar-substitute companies. It really gets ugly! You have silent backers of one company, paying research companies to bash a product in favor of another company... as in everything, there is just enough fact or fiction in what we hear and read to confuse the issue.

I totally respect everyone's right to their opinion on this and am not saying that any one person's view is wrong or right, but I just wanted to let everyone know my feelings on Splenda. I'm very proud of my former association with this product and recommend its use, without a doubt, to anyone. My kids love it and I CERTAINLY wouldn't let them use it if I believed, based on the information I have and what I have seen, that it would harm them.

Just my 2 cents for what it's worth! :-)

Have a great day!

Hope

Thanks for you post! It always helps to hear both sides of every story.

I cannot use much of any artificial sweetner, for some reason my whole body reacts against it. I know that this is a godsend for some folks though, so it is good to hear there is also a good side to this product.

Thanks for all of the info. It's great to hear from someone so close to the product. I love splenda products so much more than nutra sweet.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
