Dear Bandsters,

Just wondering if I am the only person feeling like I am going through mid life crisis. I went to therapist and he said that loosing 95 lbs would put you into one. A lot like going through puberty and body changing, body image issues and finding out who you are in this new body. Also finding myself doing things and having thoughts, feelings I never before thought I would ever do or want. Anyone out there experiencing same thing?

My thanks,

Gail:confused:

Oprah did a whole show about it! Women who had WLS and had lost their weight were having affairs, clubbing with their single friends, and going wild!!! This could be an issue, especially for woman who have been obese their whole lives. I think it's a self-esteem issue if I remember correctly.

A little bit.

Being able to dress the way I want to and present myself how I want to, and for me, that's in quite a young way. I often wonder whether I draw the line and become mutton dressed as lamb, lol. Like should one wear skinny leg jeans with boots at 40? Should I still wear a bikini?

But I'm still a mum of young kids and a university student as well. I dont want some blowsy, big hair, big makeup look either, I want to be casual, make up free and natural. I dunno. I dont FEEL old. But I'm starting to get the first signs of aging.

Is having breast work silly at 40? Like will I be some pathetic sixty year old with everything gone to gravity except for a big pair of plastic boobs? Lol, its difficult. I dont want to start having PS and then find I look like Jocelyn Wildenstein in 10 years time either.

I have no desire to go clubbing though. Or behave as anything other than a 40 year old mother.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
