Hello... no date yet, but i'm told september

Recommended Posts

I'm told I'll be a september band surgery. I'm so excited. I had hoped for an august surgery, but that couldn't happen. (hadn't finished my appts in time). So now that I have officially gotten my appts done, I'm a september. I'm a single mom of three great boys. Brandon is my oldest at nearly 12, and the twins, Michael and Matthew are 30 months (or 2 and a half). Brandon and Michael are hemophiliacs (not me), and Matthew has cerebral palsy. I live in NY.

I'm just so excited to be on a road to a healthier me. I've already shrunk from a size 22 to a 20. And they're getting baggy. See my clinic requires a 5% weight loss. I did that and more :)

My goals in this are to get healthy, to have more energy, to fit in carnival rides to enjoy them with my boys, and to wear a size 12. I don't remember when I last was a size 12.

Hi Teri! I am also Teri. I am a 41 year old married mother of 5. They are AJ (17), Kendra (15), Joey (13), and I, too, have twins, Matthew and Melissa (12). My awesome hubby's name is Greg.

We live in East Central Illinois. I was to be banded in August as well but became ill and had to wait. I will now be banded in September and am very excited.

I want to live a long and healthy life. I am so looking forward to being healthy.

It is neat to see how much we have in common. We could be banding twins!

That is too cool. Are you nervous? Who's taking care of the kids? Yours are older, so they'll probably be ok alone right? Mine aren't old enough  Or mature enough. My mom is taking the twins, and my older boy is gonna be in school when I have the surgery done. Then she'll send them home with my dad, and my neices will be here.

hugs. I look forward to hearing more from you.

Teri

PS I see you lived thru the terrible two's times two. I'm so in a nightmare right now with them.

My husband will be able to stay with our kids but they pretty well run on auto-pilot now anyway.

I am getting nervous but so excited, too. My husband is going with me the day of surgery and then has to go home that evening and work the next day. My doc requires his patients to spend the night and since my grandpa lives in the city where I will be having surgery, he is going to take me home. I live about 45 minutes from the hospital. It will give my grandpa a reason to come see everyone in our home town this way, too.

Oh yes, been through the terrible 2's times 2 here....and the 3's and 4's and now the 12's! It really does get better and easier as it goes. I have five kids here in the house right now and it is soooo quiet. They are all sort of doing their own thing. Your days of tranquility will come!

I got my pre-op diet in the mail the other day from the nurse. She says two weeks of high Protein shakes and liquids with a low carb meal in the evening. Getting more and more real everyday! :wink2:

We are still in potty training Hello! Michael has the idea, but gets busy playing, and then poops. He is pretty consistantly doing pee in the potty. Matthew is disabled, so it's just not clicking. He has cerebral palsy. In time it will.

It will come in time. My twins are ADD and are behind in a number of ways. They also have varying levels of learning disabilities. Matthew is receiving help for math only now and is starting to catch up in maturity. Melissa is still receiving LD services for just about every subject. She has trouble with comprehension. She is also in puberty and that is just compounding her problems.

Up until about a year ago they were about two years behind in everything (school, social, and just plain ole life). It is getting better and they are beginning to catch up.

I found out last night< I'm down another 2 pounds, and met another teri with the lapband. She's got "irish twins" (where they are less than a year apart). It was kindda funny.

the dr (bob) encouraged me to share last night. It was strange to me , to have so many people applaud my weight loss, and encouraging me. Next month again I'll be called on, as I will be one of the newly banded people.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
