Not losing lbs - only inches...???

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

So, since about a month after my early February surgery (and two fills to date) I have not been able to lose a single pound!!! But.... I am losing inches every month. Is this normal??I have another fill booked in September and I am worried that Dr. A will be like - why is your weight not changing..... why is my weight not changing?? I don't quite understand that?

My total weight loss in 6 mos is only 25lbs....

In 6 mos I have lost 1" off chest, 4.5" off waist, 7" off hips and 1" off thigh...

Is this to be considered normal? I thought the weight would come off more readily.......

well sweetie r u working out alot? cause muscle weighs more then fat and alot of times we dont c the number on the scale change but our clothes fit loser i wouldn't worry to much about it as long as you r losing inches that how most weight is measured anyway just like a bmi a person can weigh 250 but if the r very tall then they r not considered morbidly obese also a person weighing that weight can be all muscle there is a little machine that measure the amount of fat u have when the scale doesn't move it will help you c that you r doing well dont give up sooner or later the scale does catch up

I have good restriction at the moment and he said that I should be right then I loose between 1/4 to 1/2 kilo a week doctor would like me to loose 1/2 to 1 kilo a week but I go to curves 5 days a week and have just stared doing cardio with weights 3 times a week. dont give up you are doing well. keep excercising and getting fills.

If you're losing inches then you're still loosing but probably gaining muscle weight. Keep up the good work and don't let the scale get you down!

THATS TOTALLY MY STORY TOO. TODAY IS MY ONE MONTH ANNIVERSARY AND I HAVN'T LOST A POUND SINCE I STEPPED ON THE scale WHEN I GOT HOME. I LOST 14 LBS ON THE DIET BEFORE, AND 5 AFTER, BUT THE INCHES ARE COMING OFF. I WENT FROM A SIZE 24 TO A SIZE 20 IN A MONTH! AND I AM NOT EXERSIZING, BUT I AM ON THE GO, ALL DAY LONG. WEIRD! i AM GETING MY FIRST FILL SATURDAT TOO. I'M A BIT NERVOUS.

I was wondering the same thing (is this normal). I have been banded 10 months and am only down 47 lbs. I only seem to lose weight the first week after a fill and then I get stuck at that weight until the next fill. My last fill was 3 months ago and I lost 13 lbs the first week after that fill and haven't lost any more. I went back last month to the DR to get a fill and he wouldn't fill me because he said that I was at least losing inches. I have pretty good restriction (6.8 cc in a 10 cc) but I think just a little more might help. I have gone from size 22 to a 16 but I really would like to see the scale move.:):):confused2:

Hi Del30,

I think it is the norm Im just a slow looser I have to work very hard for the weight to come off that is why I have started cardio 3 times a week as well as going to curves 5 days a week. the main thing is not to give up hope and keep going I have gone from a size 20 to size 14 who cares if the scales move slowly. I think by loosing more inches the skin is getting tighter. Talk to you soon

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
