I can't eat too much regular foods but I sure can down some ice cream and milkshakes. Why can't I stop myself? Please give me some encouragement and some ideas for substitutions.

Milk shakes and ice cream are "easy" they require less work .

You should try some things like Morning Star veggie Burgers, I know they sound nasty but they really are good.

you need to find some "easy" Protein friendly recipes that can take the place of the shakes.

what your doing is called eating around the band. Or at least its what I CALL eating around the band. And eventually can lead to gaining weight.

what kind of things Can you eat ? lets start there ?

You dont make it clear about whether you are having trouble eating regular foods or whether you mean you just cant eat large portions.

If you are having trouble eating any meat for example, and are relying on ice cream instead, you're too tight.

Weirdly, it can be much easier to lose weight with a looser band that allows you to eat filling foods. I had some fill removed recently and just ate a salad roll for lunch (bread roll, lettuce, Tomato, carrot, cheese, beetroot, sprouts and cucumber). I couldnt quite finish it but boy was it filling. But the kind of filling that sticks with you for hours and coz I measured it and counted the calories I know it was 370.

By contrast a few weeks back I was eating Soup for lunch because I was too tight to get anything much down. Rich, pumpkin Soup with Peanut Butter and sour cream in it. Easily 370 calories. And then nibbling on a few Cookies an hour or two later coz I was hungry. And then eating only half my dinner, giving up becuase it hurt and having another glass of wine instead. And then feeling hungry an hour or two later and having some ice cream.

I'm sure you get the picture. I'm doing much better on three really decent meals a day and being able to eat healthy foods like an apple, or a small piece of grilled steak etc.

I didnt mean to get so tight, it was a combo of PMT and a plane flight, it jsut kind of happened suddenly and then I didnt recover from it. But it definitely didnt result in weight loss or in feeling good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
