fitzy33 0 Posted August 9, 2008 I had the lap band surgery on 4/29/08. I did fine except I'm having a hard time getting to the right amount of fill. I have been able to eat just about anything, as long as I chew. When I go to the doctor, I always see a PA. I had two different ones. One told me because my BMI was low, I might need more fill. When I went this week, the other PA was concerned - thought I was at 6, and needed to get a scope. She told me I might have an ulcer and have to have the band removed. Then when she measured I only had 4.5. Now I go next week and she will measure and see if I have a leak or if the other girl measured me wrong. I am in a panic. I want this to work for me. Has anyone had this experience? I have lost 32 lbs. since the beginning.

I have lost 32 lbs. since the beginning. 1st off - Don't panic. Am I to assume you have a 10cc band? and you have 6cc's in there? or now 4.5? Probably that is not enough restriction. How I have a 10 cc band and have 7 cc's in it currently, but I think I'd like another 1/4cc... after the summer is over... I am going to get serious and lose the other 30-40 lbs. But, I did have a complication with my band. The fill nurse Punctured my tubing TWICE during the fill process last fall. I had it replaced last Mar 28th and I've been fine since. Ulcers' and Erosion are VERY uncommon... I am sorry that PA freaked you out. Sometimes I think they should keep their mouths shut tight until they have run tests and KNOW what they are talking about. Good luck, and keep in touch so I know how you make out. :biggrin2:
fitzy33 0 Posted August 10, 2008 Thank you, I'm trying to keep busy and be really careful about what I eat. I hope I get good news Thursday. My grandchildren are coming for a visit that day from VA. I haven't seen them since the end of May and am looking forward to it. I don't want anything to ruin it.
