Would like someone to help me get back on track

Recommended Posts

I received the lapband surgery on March 16, 2006. I immediately lost 40 pounds then one day I woke up and was hungry and could eat everything in sight. I have a 4 cc band and it is filled to capacity. I have gained back 16 pounds and am struggling to get back on board. It is so funny sometimes I take one bite and can tell I need to stop because it is stuck, but most of the time I can eat anything. It is so random and my friends are worried because they notice when I take one bite and it's going to come up. That worries them, what worries me is the rest of the time when everything is going down and I'm hungry all the time. No one seems to understand.

I would make an appointment with my doctor and discuss this with them. I think a total unfill and then a re-fill may be what happens. A totally filled band? Seems too tight. You do have an different style band than I do, so perhaps that is possible.

You know this tool works for you. Now you need to figure out how to "hold the hammer". If you held a hammer upside down and tried to pound with it, you'd get a different result than if you hold it the way it is supposed to be held. Because you have a different model of "hammer" - you need to contact a "dealer" that understands that model. Good luck!!!

what you have described sounds EXACTLY like what I'm experiencing myself. I have lost about 43 pounds since being banded in April, but have only had one fill, my second is scheduled for the first week of September, but I haven't lost anything for two weeks. I just ate dinner, and had no problem and ate almost as much as before the band, also other times I can't even get one bite down. I went on LBT to try to re-motivate myself - I have been eating like crap quite honestly. It is hard when you don't feel any restriction most of the time, and can't seem to stick with the healthy foods. I do'nt know what size band I have, I know I have 4cc's in there now though. I think the key for us is to remember to eat the healthy foods before anything else until we can talk with our doctors. On top of now being able to eat whatever I want - now I'm losing my hair...grrr. Sorry, I'm kind of rambling, I don't know if it is helping at all.

I could use a buddy right now, too. :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
