Hi Group.

first--initial weight 301, preop wt 287, Post op wt 290, First goal 274, current weight 2 1/2weeks out 277. HOW CAN I GET ONE OF THOSE wt GOAL THINGS?

second--when i take the first bite of food and swallow i get an uncomfortable stuck feeling in the middle of my lower chest. I sometimes I take a little sip of Water and get a PB then i can swallow. I do chew really well before swallowing. It mostly happens in the mornings and when I am feeling really hungry.

third -- any bulging at your port site when you relax your abdominal muscles. Mine does and when I tighten my abdomen I have a dimple at the incision/port site. I am worried my port has flipped or pulled loose. I avoided the lifting as i was instructed but did sit on a 5gallon bucket one day and weeded a flower bed. That night the area was really tender. Any similar occurances? I was told about the weight lifting restriction and have followed it even though I have not had pain.

D (movie ref.) -- What do you do when you are bouncing between a few pounds and not moving. I am not taking in a great deal of calories and have been exercising as much as possible with 3 small kids and I have been put in a desk job watching monitors until my 4 week post op mark is reached. 275 has always been my stuck point and I to get to 274 really bad.

5 -- iforgot what 5 was so that is it for now.

first follow appt is next week, First fill is in 3weeks.

Questions:huh2:, answers:ohmy:, and rude comments :) are generally welcome.

I think you are asking about a tracker - go to this website:

www.tickerfactory.com

You can build your ticker there and it is important to get the url when finished so you can keep it updated.

I have had to discover something about myself that might help you. I have an excessive amount of air and sinus drainage which is causing my food to give me a ton of heart-burn. I do have PBing a lot too. So now when I eat, I take a little of "Can't Believe Its Not Butter" with the first few bites, chew more than normal, drink a little Fluid as well. I then sit and wait for a huge burp to get the air bubbles up and then I can eat normal for my band size. Very strange, but it is working! Just go very slow with it. Good luck!

Don't worry about the scales....you need to focus on NSV (none scale victories) for example loose clothing....I have went from a size 50-52 and is currently wearing 40-42, but I still want to lose more weight. Be encouraged!

does the ticker work.

for eating now i am taking a little sip with the first bite and it has been working well for swallowing.

My first follow-up appointment, the port feels "OK". My Doc's nurse does not think it flipped. And it is not so sore since i have stopped messing with it.

I'm figuring thing out with eating and exercise. I loose the most on my days off. because at work I am just sitting. Days off i stay active all day. still have to weigh daily just to see. I'll get over that soon enought though I am sure.

As I tell my friends this is one of the best things I have done. I finally feel Full.

Here is a BIG, small word of advice. Get out of bed as soon as possible and walk.

Keep thinking good thoughts, I'm sure others including myself will be to.

May the force be with you.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!:Banane37:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
