coolcrystal 1 Posted August 8, 2008 I tried to do a little research on here to see if somebody had talked about this before, but nothing. Are there any other women who had two menstrual cycles super close together? I just got off my cycle a week and a half ago and I started again yesterday! This has never happened to me before.. I always start every 26 days to the T.. And I'm not pregnant (I checked that yesterday just to be sure).. but this is a full on cycle with cramps and everything... could it be from the weightloss? I don't think 51 lbs in 6 months is super rapid weightloss.. but I did hear that rapid weightloss can trigger this sort of thing.. any information you have or if this has happened to you, please post something.. thanks. Flowerpurr 0 Posted August 8, 2008 Hi Crystal, I am going through that right now. I had mine which is acutally every 24 days and now it's back 8 days early! I already get it more than the average women. Plus I don't want to go on bc because I worry about weight gain and my bf is fixed.
coolcrystal 1 Posted August 8, 2008 yeah i had mine on june 30th and then again on july 24th i had lost 20 lbs in 2 months before being banded I don't think starting your cycle 24 days later is too much of a big deal. Starting early 1-2 days or late 1-2 days is pretty normal I think.. I only had 9 days in between my cycles.. I'm definitely gonna have to keep a journal on this if it happens too much. I refuse to get on birth control... I have never been on it and never will be on it.
SanDiegoPhotog 0 Posted August 8, 2008 if it's any consolation . . . I can't get my cycle to END. ugh! I am going to call my doctor on Monday if it doesn't stop over the weekend, but I'm going stark raving mad. I don't want to go on bc either because it makes me moody, headachey, and gain weight . . . but I might check in with him to see if there's anything new on the market that might have fewer side effects. Froggi 4 Posted August 9, 2008 I went through this last month. I had a period on july 1st through the 8th then again on july 21st through the 27th. I had lost about 20 lbs at the time and I think that's what caused it to happen. My surgeon requires us to be on birth control after surgery though, or he won't do it. =/ So I need to find one lol
Jeni 85 0 Posted August 9, 2008 (edited) Dont be freaked out quite yet.... Our cycles are very picky... The body like everything to be steady so a sudden weight-loss could freak it out!!! Basically, our body make sure it is a good time to get pregnant before it give us a chance to... So keep track, and if it happens again, give your dr. a call just to be on the safe side!!! I finally freaked out when i went 8mth w/o a period but then again i learned i had P.C.O.S. But like i said Our menstrual Cycle likes calm and routine ... No suprises or changes.. Because if we pull a suprise on our body with weight loss then our periods we get revenge!!! And as far as bc, i am currently on it and i found that Yasmin works pretty well and doesnt have bad side effects (at least for me) and any minor side effects it does have can be completely alleviated by taking it before bedtime!! And no weight gain either!!! And Yasmin also has a low-dose form called Yaz if you are really worried about side effects!! JaimeSTL 4 Posted August 10, 2008 Some women bleed when they ovulate. The ovulation bleeding usually isn't as heavy as the normal period. That could be why it seems like you are having such short cycles.
libra 13 Posted August 10, 2008 I had this happen for a good 6 months or so. My gynecologist said that it is from the significant weight loss. It has something to do with your fat stores releasing stored hormones as you lose the weight. I was on birth control and still had my period twice a month. Be careful though, I ended up getting pregnant when I thought I was protected by the pill.
gingerbug 3 Posted August 10, 2008 I am so glad that you posted this, I have recently (and I hope temporarily) started a 21 day cycle. I have been wondering what the hell was wrong with me! I am glad I am not the only person dealing with this!
coolcrystal 1 Posted August 10, 2008 I spoke with my friend who's a nurse at a party last night and she said that with weight loss like mine it's pretty normal for this to happen but to monitor it for the next two months. She said to keep a little journal of it and if it happens again twice in a row that I need to schedule with my gyno. I think it might also have been because of the stress of my band suddenly getting super tight and me getting the unfill, the whole thing was so stressful and I think that might have jolted something.. so I won't panic quite yet..
